I was 6'1" 165 in HS...I had dreams of college ball but could not gain weight... Until about 28....maxed out at almost 280 at the beginning of Covid. Dropped 50 and hopefully another 20-30 to go. Carbs are pretty rare in my diet now.

Being lactose intolerant it was funny going to my sandwich place, watching the guy butter my bread, look up at me, put the bread down and pick up a clean slice.
I could order coffee black or "american" and get it with milk or cream, so in some places I just gave up and ordered tea with lemon.
Back in the 80's you could not get good food at a typical restaurant, by the late 90's they had amazing restaurants everywhere.

I tried the pork pie once, a hockey puck with pork fat and a bit of meat, ready to pack in paper for off to war. It was the highest rated pie too.

And then there is Marmite- They used to use it like we use peanut butter. Now it is less visible, but back in the 80's you would never find a kitchen in the UK without. The Aussies had vegamite. My Aussie friends used to bring bottles with them.

KALE..... I have NOT found any of the ways I've seen it prepared that I could choke down the second bite..

TOFU.... Again.. About the same as kale..

SHREDDED COCONUT... I like coconut flavor in things.. Just can't get past the thought of it look and seem like the texture of finger nail clippings..

Once a year I eat a bowl of cereal with milk.. Once a year I drink about half a glass of cold milk, or ice cream.. The more liquid a dairy product, the more likely it will cause me "issues"

I do like milk, cream in tea or coffee.. In that small amounts it is OK..

We discovered a premixed "super salad" at the local Kroger that has kale in it and that has been the only way I can tolerate it. Actually in the summer it's pretty light and satisfying.

My grandfather used to put butter on one side of two slices of bread, put dry dog food between the buttered sides and feed his dogs. So every time that I hear of butter on sandwiches, I think of dog food.

Please continue buttering your bread as you were. Which side do you butter or do you better both sides to make it less confusing? If you butter both sides do you peanut butter both sides? I think we have the makings of a whole new thread.

my buddy runs a bluegrass jam on monday nites at the 1840 town that he hand built over the last 25 years.....amazing accomplishment. He has cowboy weddings and is doing fine!

His wife likes to sing one song in particular and she belts it out!

butter one side only please, and please no peanut butter as that is poison to me. A literal death sentence.
