I had a fairly basic 2007 Ford Ranger XL that had a MSRP of $18555. In todays dollars that would be $29000.

Couldn't take the screenshot I wanted, now stuck in bold..... Towing @ very bottom of clip below (just under 8300#, with a dagger-note - haven't tried a build, perhaps a Tow pkg is avail here for more capacity ?). Mebbe Kanuck # are heavier ? :giggle:

'yoda, was the founding-family's actual name (sloppy clipping, from Wikipedia)

It looks like the 90 model did come with ABS standard, and Power steering; but even an AM radio was an optional upgrade
I believe that was rear wheel ABS only, which was the same as having no brakes in snowy conditions.

My Colorado has about the same footprint as my old '84 F150 and weighs about 460lbs more. (4300 vs 4760)
Likely the extra weight is from the extended cab, 4WD... and a little more on me than 40 years ago.

I had an 85 s10 extended cab with the v6. I was able to get 25 - 26 mpg on the highway. That was the main reason I went with the smaller truck. It had a/c and no stereo and rubber floor, which I prefer over carpet. I added a nice after market sound system. The first time I carried a load in it and tied a loop in the rope to pull it tight against the front of the bed I bent the front of the bed. The early edition of ABS and the crummy uniroyal tiger paw radials barely stopped the truck in an emergency. I know one wreck I had was due to this combo not stopping the truck. I had another wreck as well that likely would have been prevented with the after market tires I put on later. Those tires actually gripped the road. The ABS brakes in that thing would pulse and not lock up. After I replaced the tires it rode and handled much better. The v6 was supposed to run on regular unleaded, but it clattered every time I went up a hill unless I had premium in it. I towed a 15' skeeter with a 60 horse Merc on it. It was not that heavy and it towed ok. I don't miss most of the 70s and 80s vehicles that tried to reduce weight and get higher mpg's by using under powered engines. To be fair I had a full size chevy 10 rental with a regular cab and 8 foot bed one time when my S10 was in the shop. I'd always had chevy trucks to that point. The ride on that truck was terrible. The back end was so light that it was bouncy without a load. I previously had a Big10 that I really liked, but those 2 got me away from Chevy.
