Kubota Announces the new Grand L70

I was just looking at the new 70 model on their website. One thing that I really don't like is that the entire side of the cab is one big door glass. On the 40 and 60 models, there's a mid-pillar with a door in front and a smaller rear-side glass that opens for a vent.

Not being able to open vent windows could be a real nuisance. I use mine a lot, year round. And you can't drive around with the doors open.

Are you sure about that? The L5740 has a selectable switch that turns the light on, off, or on with door switch. Surely they wouldn't have dropped a common feature that they were already including.

My 2019 L6060 has no door light switch.

You guys are right! That's crazy NOT to have a door switch. Doubly so when prior series had it.

To make things worse, the first time I used the new tractor at night, I left the dome light on thinking it would turn off when I turned off the ignition and closed the door. Wrong. It ran the battery down and I had to jump start it.

Turns out, it was wired wrong. The dealer fixed it so it now turns off when the ignition is off. Still no door switch though.

I'll bet this is why they removed it from the Lxx60 series - too many people leaving it in the "On" position and killing batteries.

I wonder if they will put pilot controls on loader functions? My 5240 feels barbaric after running my Ditch Witch mini track loader. My Ditch Witch salesman said it wouldn't be that costly for Kubota to do it.

Sure would be nice if they pushed out some models without DEF while the EPA is relaxing the crippling emissions requirements. I wonder if regulations will reduced enough to make that possible. They'd sell like crazy.

Not going to happen. Between the fact that other countries have similar requirements and that it is temporary, they are highly unlikely to make any changes.

They need to get these ideas through Congress, but they are focused on other nonsense. EOs are not going to change anything.

I agree. And besides, redesigning and retesting would take 1-2 years, I expect.
