It took me 10 minutes to figure out how to pick up 40 pounds of dirt/sod.

Yeah, it's harder than it looks! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

This is about the thickest brush I have to deal with. It's easily within the Squealers limits of 1".

I need to purchase a combination radio/hearing protector. More for the radio than hearing protection...The unit is quiet.

It's stingy on fuel. 5.2 hours and used a quarter tank. However, she's only running between 2000 and 2300 RPM during break-in.

Bad things: No oil pressure gauge. I used to run commercial boats and that was THE gauge to watch.

Idiot style water temp gauge. the tractor ran at
"4 dots" regardless of outside temp. Note to RaT: What's yours run at?

So far everything else seems fine. Time will tell.

The CFO insisted on decorative plastic shutters and mini-blinds to give the building a more "residential" look rather than commercial. This is the side facing the street 400 feet away. The tractor lives comfortably.

Oh yeah. I got 2 dealer hats and a key chain.

I think I've read that some people had trouble engaging/disengaging the 4WD. Mine is loose and smooth as silk. So smooth I though it wasn't connected. It is and it works fine.

Rdam:

The place looks great!!! and nice looking Bota-barn too boot. Ok gotta ask.....have you let the CFO have any seat time yet?

Hey, I got one of them sony arm or belt hook gym radios and it works great in the gym but as far as tractor time it stinks and I've tried both the foam "shove in your ears" type of headphones and the standerd ridged headphones and both stink. If your ears don't sweat off I would look for something more along the lines of the ear muff's you wear while shooting with radio in them.

She probably got about 30 minutes or so. She was able to run the Yanmar so it wasn't a huge deal. Remember, she's the one who said "make sure you get a big enough tractor".

rdam,

I like that barn. I'm in the process of deciding what I'm going to do as far as tractor shelter. Was that a kit? Any info you might be able to pass along is appreciated.

Nice tractor too. Congrats!

The building is real nice. I suppose you can build it yourself, but it is an engineered building and had to be built to code.

It is technically a 24x24x8 building. The 8' measurement is the length of the vertical leg at the side of the building. However, the eave height is 9'6". The roll up door is 9'. It has a 4-12 pitch and a 13'6" peak height.

The building was $4,597. Setup was $1,739. Freight was $400.00. Sales tax $321.00. Total building price $7,058.53. Included a 10x9 roll up door, (1) walk in door and (2) 40x30 windows.

The slab was expensive, but well done. $2,400.

www.portagrace.com. It is the ExSel model.

mytoys...

If you want a less expensive tractor storage solution... you might consider a "portable shelter"...

Farmtek makes & sells some nice units... the covers are put together right here in CT by their subsidiary ClearSpan near Hartford... they have shelters at that location you can see... they make their own galvanized pipe in Iowa...

They also sell "closeouts" at their website ScroungeCentral.com

I just bought a closeout round-top 2-car garage from them... CL102992... 26' wide x 28' deep x 12' high... includes (2) 9' wide x 8' high entry doors with door openers... extra extra heavy 16 ounce fabric (standard is 10 or 12.5 ounce)... 4' center rafters... rachet style cover tie downs... pipe is galvanized in & out...
$1,295 closeout price... also got (10) ground anchors and driver... (2) gable vents... 720 sq. ' 16mil poly flooring... shipping & CT tax for ~$1,725 total...

They have 17 of these left as of Nov 7, 2003... they had 24 2 weeks before this when I ordered...

Sounds like a nice rig. I just bought a Kubota 3240, HST+ 4x4, FEL w/QA, sunshade, Bush hog 84" RD finish mower & picked uo a 6' galvanized box blade at the feed store. My dealer said my tractor can swing a 6' bush hog, but with HST its PTO only nets about 25hp. I hear if folks that bushhog with 6' cutters on 22hp yanmars and all kinds of tractors, then read here the 6' Bush Hog rotary cutter needs at least 30 pto hp, and on another thread here on TBN, that Bush Hog brand gear boxes draw more hp than others. I guess I will find out someday when I get a bush hog. I think I will rent one and try it first to make sure I have the pto hp. Thanks for the info in your post.
