For various reasons I have a strong preference for a 3pt log splitter, I had decided on the Timberwolf TW-3 with PTO pump. I went to order one today and was told they are no longer making them, not enough demand. :(
So what 3pt splitters do folks here recommend now that the TW-3 is no longer available?
The Split-Fire is off my list as I spent several weeks emailing them trying to get a straight answer out of them about a few of their features. All I got was evasive non answers so I don't want to deal with them.

That's too bad, they are a fantastic splitter!

I am. I know you are very happy with yours. But it seems they are so good, people don't want to give them up. The search has just begun. The wife is trying to convince me to just go to TSC and get one of their $1500 specials. I just don't like the ergonomics of them.

There's a TW3 and TW3HD, you really want the HD model.

Too bad on split fire, I've run a 3pt one for nearly 20 years with zero issues. I didn't have to contact the company, local dealer had them in stock and answers. What couldn't they answer?

I couldn't get a straight answer about their PTO pump, reservoir system and something else I can't remember now. It was 2 years ago and I don't have the emails anymore.
They have a good reputation and were high on my list, until they couldn't answer my questions. I also couldn't find a local dealer, by local I mean within 250 miles.

That's too bad they couldn't answer basics like the GPM and capacity.

Local sales and service are key. I did see a PTO pump 3pt model on my local dealer's lot 2-3 years ago.

Timberwolf are nice splitters for sure. I was tossing a stand alone that had these and a Super Split on the short list.
Chose the SS and have zero regrets.
The huge gnarly stuff stays in the woods to rot.

I have a TW-3HD that I want to sell. Yes, it's a very effective unit but I'm turning 78 and disabled, it's too much for me and my wife. Unfortunately you are not very close to SW Ohio.

Yea, if you weren't 11 hrs away, that would be tempting. Sorry to hear of your health issues and it being too much for you. I'm 70, so I am not sure how much longer I can keep splitting wood. I have a 16lb splitting maul I used for years, but I can't swing that anymore. Which is why I am looking for a powered splitter.

You better jump on that splitter! I bet it will be a decent deal and easily be worth it to go get it, or even ship it!! SR

A lot of times I regret buying a 3 point log splitter, they are really not convenient to use if you are cutting would anywhere but your own property. I find mine slow. it only splits wood horizontality. I am tempted to buy a carted log splitter, just because they are so handy to move. Remember you are adding hours to your tractor just to split wood.

I split quite a bit of wood each year and I bet you I don't add 50 hours a year on my tractor.

IF a tractor can't handle even two or three times that EVERY year for decades, you should have bought a different brand of tractor!

I've got a Titan vertical 3 point splitter for sale, I'm in King William county if you're interested. It's about 3-4 years old but only used a couple of times.

Thanks, I am not a fan of the vertical splitter, but I'll research it.
