Maybe he meant no one else would want to work on a Dodge.

The last time I saw a new Power Wagon was in the early '60's and I was working at the local Chrysler dealer in my home town in the Colo. mountains. One of the local ranchers ordered it and everyone in the shop was excited to see it. It was a light blue color and the biggest, heaviest built vehicle I've ever seen outside of the military stuff. I'm real sure that none of the stuff on your new truck had even been dreamed of yet and I would bet that the price he paid for it wouldn't even pay the sales tax on your truck.
Times sure have changed. Enjoy your new rig, you've earned it.

Now all you got to do is go to DMV and get IDSMNY personalized plates.

Enjoy your truck. And be glad youæ±*e not a dealer mechanic, that software upgrade has to be a tough pill to swallow.

I think on PBS I saw a story about how John Deere weaseled into some software law for computers and now has used it to make it illegal to work on their computers in your tractor. Maybe the auto industry has decided that is a good thing for them too.
My favorite bumper sticker... "I'm spending my children's inheritance."

I researched this closely before buying my pickup. The Mopar factory extended warranty can be super but you have to do the maintenance on time or it is void. Depending upon length you may also have to get inspections to make sure it was not modified (tuner, bigger tires, etc) They even have a lifetime extended warranty on some non-diesel models that is not outrageous in price.

Check this out and compare the quotes from Ziegler to what you paid. I believe you have 30 days to cancel with your local dealer and get the warranty cheaper (???) from Ziegler or just take the quote and make them match it.

Save $$ on Genuine Mopar Vehicle Protection Warranty Plan!

I was also looking at the power wagon but found a steal on a GMC with the 6.0 so went that way instead.
Truthfully, I can understand that to a point. It isn't the truck's fault if it's abused or poorly maintained.

I bought a 1963 Dodge Power Wagon from Alaska DOT. Came with new tires and a Fisher snow plow. I paid $35. Big ol' truck that would go anywhere. It was 30" to the running boards and you could work under it sitting up. Had a little 225 slant six engine that never failed to start and run.

Like the Doofy Fool that I am, I traded for a 1970 FJ 40 Toyota Land Cruiser. Spent more time stuck than playing.

Heart Felt congratulations... hope it brings a smile to your face and many trouble free miles!

I'm a California Certified Lemon Law Arbitrator and the question of maintenance comes up a lot.

As long as the consumer is able to demonstrate to the arbitrators satisfaction required maintenance/service was performed to the manufacturer spec we don't care who does it...

I have had owners come in with receipts for filters and fluids from the selling dealer and log books...

If you have to pay for it you have the right to choose.

The issues most likely to affect the warranty are three... abuse and modifications and accident damage.

So keep it stock and drive like you own it... and all should be good.

The advantage of factory authorized service is not having to prove proper service as it is a given if perform according to schedule.

Many do use Dealer Service during the warranty period to keep things simple... plus, any recalls or updates are supposed to be on the Dealer...

I've bought one new car in my life and 16 years later it is still my New Car... and looks it too.

Thanks guys. You do your best, try your hardest and sometimes things just don't work out right. Some day he might see the light - I hope I'm around when that happens.

However - I am excited about this new truck. The young salesman better bone up cause the 'ol fart is making a list and checking it twice. Got to put it in print or the shine and excitement will overcome my memory and quest for answers. I think I might have hurt his feelings when I asked if they could trade the 12K winch for a nice black painted front bumper. I will need a winch on this pickup like I need goat crap on my tuna sandwich. My days of playing in the mud and winching are long over.

I remember the very last trip with the 4WD club. It was 10F - we kept breaking thru the ice and the "puddles" were about foot and a half deep. Muddy water was freezing on everything. You could just barely see the winch line on your winch thru the frozen muddy water. Mud & muddy water was freezing on all your clothing and gloves. God - was that a lot of fun - - NOT. The summer runs were like a trip in paradise.

I'm not **** about a vehicles exterior shine and polish. However - the engine and running gear is my pride and joy. I've yet to see a vehicle get thru a mud bog because the owner did a "shine & polish" the day prior to a run.I didn't ask - this time for a color choice. I knew there were going to be only two power wagons available - red & blue. I've come into a dealer before with a nice smear of wet mud on a bright white sheet of paper. Put it down on the salesman's desk and said - "this is the color I'm looking for". They think I'm kidding. They see the light the first time I bring it in for routine service. Dry mud on a shiny black Jeep is such a visceral display.

Anyhow - I will post pictures when the vehicle is in my hot, sweaty hands. Now, back to my review of the eight pages of detailed enhancements to this vehicle.Again - thanks to ZTMan for the link. It worked perfectly.

Well - I'm done with the eight pages of items listed for the PW. Only nine items that will need further explaining. Gotta admit - that link that ZTMan showed goes to a sight that lists EVERYTHING on a vehicle. The window sticker only hits the high points.

That's a beautiful vehicle there, coobie. Your picture makes me chuckle. I've had to rearrange the vehicles in my carport. The Jeep was in the largest stall. Now that stall will be for the PW. WoW - I enlarged the picture of your truck, coobie. That's a lot of chrome up front. You either ride a Harley Davidson or are an excellent candidate for one.

It's been 14 years since I bought a new vehicle. I wonder, will I get a 175 page Owners Manual. The last few years - everything I buy has a small note in the box with a web address. Go to the web site - there is pdf - Owners Manual.

No, I bought the Kubota nine years ago and I got an actual manual. I DID download and print an additional manual. The original was getting so many greasy finger prints, smudges, globs everywhere on it. Had to lay a paper towel on the table to set the manual on.

Waiting is the pits. This is ALMOST as bad as waiting for the new tractor in 2009. I need another cup of coffee............

At least this won't be like my new tractor delivery. It came on a tilt bed type truck. The driver was unfamiliar with my driveway conditions. He called me from the entrance - "come and get it". Rode the ATV down the driveway to the tractor. Stuck the ATV in the tractor bucket, held there with a couple nylon straps. Home we came -

oosik, would you have chosen the diesel engine if not for the emission system problems that those bring? All of my vehicles are diesel, 7.3L to be specific, the thought of replacing them with the current diesel pick ups doesn't give me a warm feeling at all. I test and repair those things, the emission systems had to be designed in **** and brought to us at the hands of the devil. I tell my customers that are buying new diesel trucks, "buy what ever brand you like, then trade it off before the warranty is out".
