Man - and I almost crapped when the total came to $58K. $120,000 - that's got to be beyond anybodies limit. That's why I buy new in the winter. All the neighbors cows are locked in the feed yards. It will be at least four months before I start dodging those steamers left in my driveway. Those special off-road tires really grab a hot, steaming pie and throw it everywhere. If you are good - a solid barrage of poo - hot off the front tire - zooming right past your window. Out here they tell the city folk - that's the smell of money.

CAT_DRIVER - all the computer systems on the new pickup is the primary reason I got the extended warrantee.

I generally try not to comment without reading a thread but will make an exception

Congratulations on the new truck! I always like hearing of people who have busted their butts all of their lives and finally go out and buy something nice. You really can't take it with you, so enjoy the new ride.

Good point. Spend your kids inheritance because most don't deserve it or would even appreciate it. You earned it and deserve to splurge a little.

Good Lord Doofy - do three - 360 spins and touch your nose and belly button at the same time. I got to thinking I should explain a tad more. So I trade in the Jeep against the new pickup. I'm giving my son, my un-appreciative son, the 2005 F-150, free and clear( only 42K miles). He is really miffed at me because I spent all this money on a new pickup. He thinks I should pay off the loan on his house. And on the pickup - "well, what am I supposed to do with THAT, dad". I told him, put it where the sun don't shine and squeeze. About one more session like that - I'LL sell the dam thing and keep the money myself. It's not like he had any involvement in its purchase.

My wife & I both worked, scrimped, saved our entire life so we could retire. And now, "Sponge BoB", is miffed because I won't support him too.

I gotta quit now. I know my BP is elevating and I really want to try to keep harmony in our family. But, at times, I wonder why.

oosik, I feel your pain. At times, I feel like carrion and I feel the buzzards circling (children) just waiting for me to croak. I've never seen such a greedy and self-absorbed bunch of "entitled" brats in my life. Sad, just sad.

Now all you got to do is go to DMV and get “KIDSMNY” personalized plates.

Enjoy your truck. And be glad you’re not a dealer mechanic, that software upgrade has to be a tough pill to swallow.

I think on PBS I saw a story about how John Deere weaseled into some software law for computers and now has used it to make it illegal to work on their computers in your tractor. Maybe the auto industry has decided that is a good thing for them too.

I did the same thing. I just got a 2019 Ford F250 Lariat.
I searched for 6 moths for a good used, but everything on the planet had way, way over 100K miles on it.
I gave in and went for a new one. No one was dealing on these trucks so I started looking all over the USA. I found dealers offering 10K off new 2019 trucks so I took those numbers to my local stealers and they changed their tune from $1,000 off to $7,500 off.
They pushed the warranty I declined at $3,500. Then at the signing they said they could do $2,000 for the warranty. I said I'll do $1,200 for a 60K 5 year bumper to bumper premium take it or leave it. They came back at $1,250.00 so I bought the warranty.
I figure with all these computers and electrical anything that needed fixing will run over $1,200 the first time I need it.
All in all this is one of the finest vehicles I have ever driven and has options I'm still learning about a week later.

I went through two LEMON law buy backs from two different manufacturers. The first one took 2 lawyers and three years but I got to drive their vehicle for free for 3 years and put 60K mils on it before they gave me a new one. They tried to out wait or irritate me to give up, I never did. Plus it cost them 60K in legal fees and I got a new vehicle replacement.
The second one I lemon law'd in it a week. Took it in three time for the same problem then I enacted Lemon law on my own no lawyers. The manufacturer called and begged me for one more chance that I didn't have to agree to, but I said this is it. You get one more try after that give me a replacement.

Two weeks later they called and said order a new one. They have me $22K (MSRP) for the vehicle they bought back, and I only purchased it for $14,000K, so I made money on the Lemon Law. I went in the next day and ordered a new replacement the way I wanted.

That was some of my decision on a new vehicle. 1) I get the warranty. 2) I get Lemon law protection 3) I get a fresh vehicle with zero history on it from a previous owner 4) I'm not buying someone else's problems if their are some. All in all you pay the price on a new on, but you also get peace of mine. Buying used is always a dice roll and you can end up with a 4,000 pound paper weight of the bargain of the century?
I'm getting too old to gamble these days.

You the man, Cat Driver! 3 years and 60k miles for free? OMG, you really stuck it to them! I hope you pass this story on to your grandkids, snd they pass it on to their grand kids.,,.

Gheez, oosik, that is truly a bummer! Try not to think about it - think about your new truck!

I researched this closely before buying my pickup. The Mopar factory extended warranty can be super but you have to do the maintenance on time or it is void. Depending upon length you may also have to get inspections to make sure it was not modified (tuner, bigger tires, etc) They even have a lifetime extended warranty on some non-diesel models that is not outrageous in price.

Check this out and compare the quotes from Ziegler to what you paid. I believe you have 30 days to cancel with your local dealer and get the warranty cheaper (???) from Ziegler or just take the quote and make them match it.

Save $$ on Genuine Mopar Vehicle Protection Warranty Plan!

I was also looking at the power wagon but found a steal on a GMC with the 6.0 so went that way instead.

So sad about your son. If that's his attitude then sell the truck yourself. Sadly, I'm in the same boat. My kids have always thought I was the Bank of Dad for the past 40 plus years. I finally cut them off when I retired 3 years ago. Now I'm lucky if I see or hear from them once a year. Oh well, Makes me sad they didn't inherit the work ethics and common sense I did from my Dad and Mom. Anyway, That's a story for another thread.
Congrats on the truck once again.
