Thanks Careyo63 & California. One more thing I forgot to address. I have the PTO overrun clutch on my 2210d that Fredrick's put on, does that make a difference with either tiller, the rs1400 or US model?

I know what the overrun clutch is for, but don't know if it affects the drive shaft for the yanmar tiller, or the way it will hook up. Any comments? Also Careyo63 what sealed bearing did you buy to replace that? Any part numbers? And thanks or the fluid change info California and Winston

@Jtullis13-

Nice tractor. I like the oil pressure and temperature add ons. Where did you get the temp sensor mounting block you inserted into the coolant hose? I have a temp sensor waiting to go on, just haven't found (or looked very hard) for a way to insert it into the coolant line. Thanks.

No the tiller will be slowed down as long as it's lowerd into the ground. The overrun clutch comes into play mostly from the inertia from a mower. There is nothing to slow it down in turn without a overrun clutch the mower will turn the PTO drive shaft causing it to turn the rear wheels.

I didn't have to replace it. I read about it when it was talked about on here. When I was doing maintenance I removed the cover and wasn't happy with what I found. Lucky I caught it because it Wouldn't of lasted long. I just made sure not to have a problem and repacked everything. Grease is cheap so I may have even overdone it.

Thanks wooly acres. I like it too. I got the adapter off eBay, and I think Scotty did too. I don't know what your radiator hose size is, but here is an item number for one on eBay that is a 28mm. 330903697959. Just type that item number in and search for other ones like it. I will try to paste a link in the explains the size you need compared to the size of your hose. And thanks Careyo for the info on the bearing too and the Pto issue

This is the link that will explain the radiator hose adapter size for the hose you have. I copied this from Scotty. He gave me the idea to do this. Here is the link Radiator hose adaptor-Prosport Gauges Upper radiator hose adaptor. I also had to drill and re-tap the adapter for the temp sensor to fit. Wasn't a problem I did it myself. But make sure you don't drill to big. I believe for 1/4 NPT you need to drill with a 7/16 drill bit. That's what I did

Hard to say it just depends on how it's set up. The top link bracket is set up to push the tiller out and up to were a top link would basically just go up and you may run into a problem. So many variables with different brands. The 650$ could end up costing 850$ having to buy longer ams longer/shorter Dr.shaft or even both. Then the tiller itself may have problems or going to have problems with worn out parts, tines Etc.. I would start with giving Fredricks a call and go from there. At least your know that it will work and is setup for your tractor properly. I had problems getting mine setup Yup!! gave me the wrong drive shaft LOL.. So at least you know they will stand behind it and make sure you get or have everything you need.

Exactly my thoughts.

Thanks for your input Bmaverick. I'm going to call Fredricks here in a little while. I am also going back to look at the other tiller and take some measurements to see how it would set up on my 2210d. I would prefer the tiller that is meant for my 2210 but don't want to spend a fortune to get one shipped either. Will let you guys know what I decide.

So I called Fredrick's today and was told that a 4ft tiller is $650, a 4.5ft is $725, & a 5ft is $850 and it wold cost around $400 to ship it to me, so I guess I'm not sure what to do. That's a lot of money when you add in the shipping. I would really like a 5ft tiller that is made for my 2210 but $1,250 is a lot to spend! What does anyone else think? Any one from that area coming to Nebraska or Iowa that would want to make a few dollars? I would pay you but to $400 though 😄.

I would look on Craigslist and see and see what you can find. There is plenty of deals under that price around here.

Yeah I've been looking. I will keep on looking too. Not much around here for that. But I will keep my fingers crossed

Agree, I would look locally.

For normal American dryland farming there's nothing special about a genuine Yanmar rototiller, aside from they used to be the most inexpensive tiller available. That was because the Japanese export houses took for granted that every tractor they shipped over should have its tiller on it - so the import dealers here had extras. I recall Tractor Ernie in Oregon said he sent a truckload to the dump after his bonepile of tillers continued to grow.

My RS1400 was $200 which included the driveshaft, upper link set, and a spare new set of claimed genuine Yanmar tines. (But I had asked for the cheapest tiller in the place, most cost more. Its the last green tiller on the left). I took apart the offside bearing and found it still sealed ok, greasing that and replacing the gear oil are the only maintenance it's ever had. It runs fine.

Those days are past now. Fredricks is the only place I know bringing over decent used Yanmars where one might still have its tiller on it. And possibly Coldwater in Washington state, I don't know if he gets tillers.

In summary - I would watch Craigslist and buy whatever is local and in decent condition, save your money for some other implement.

Thanks California. I wish I could find a deal like you did. Yeah I am looking for other implements too, but really want/need a tiller soon but don't want to spend an arm and a leg on one. I found one here for $650, looks like it should work, but I could also spend enough money making it work to be at the same price as the one from Fredricks too for all I know.

You probably stated and I missed it but what Fremont are you from? California?

Yeah, a new TSC CountyLine brand 5ft runs about $1,800 here in TN. And that is without the PTO drive shaft! So, the $400 isn't too bad really.

Yes, I thought you were in Fremont, California too. Thus the Yanmar tillers are more popular out that way. Being out in the middle of nowhere has some disadvantages.

Not Fremont California. I live in Fremont Nebraska and as someone has said "middle of nowhere" is somewhat correct. So the availability of yanmar tillers are non-existent. So maybe I just need to spend the $400 on the shipping

I would honestly consider buying it and knowing now the cost having it shipped. I pulled out the sales receipt from when I purchased the RS1400. I actually paid 675.00 in 1/09. Drove to get it and do not regret it to the day. I bought it for my mothers garden so it had to work and boy did it ever do a nice job as you can see in my pic.. It was the last one they had but things were a lot different back then esp. with Yanmar. Now you would probably be getting one like in the condition in California pic.. I've seen them at a local Fredricks supplied dealer when the Ym2500 was purchased and they were nice. I don't have to keep up with a garden anymore So I sold it for for 600.00$ in 3 days yrs. later. Can't get much better than that. :D

Yes, it's still a good bargain with the Yanmar from Fredricks with the shipping. I just hopped over to TCS. It does come with a PTO shaft and slipclutch too. But, the price and shipping it out to you would be more like $2K.
CountyLine Rotary Tiller, 5 ft. - For Life Out Here

And over at NorthTool, the price isn't any better. Then add the shipping.

So the price isn't to far off from yours, just the shipping cost. And you came out ok with having for 3 yes and selling it for $600. Ok I will probably just have to break down and pay the price. Thanks for everyone's help!!
