That truck driver has to be pretty inexperianced. You can see in one of the pix the track from where the tractor cut the inside of the corner. I'm guessing he hasn't driven truck very long.

But wait - there's more! At this point - Mr forklift operator decided to back down in to the gully and get stuck too - it was one heck of a morning!

After this chapter of the morning I had to change back in to my 'work clothes' and leave for my office - when I arrived almost 3 hours late for work I tried to explain the whole thing to my co-workers - needless to say - nobody believed me. :D

All I can say is: :confused2: Was anything damaged? I like the look on your kids faces!
We noticed a couple things and took lots of pictures - I think the biggest thing that got damaged was the drivers ego. :D

Oh, and did he go off the road or did it wash out/collapse?
He tells us that he arrived Wednesday night and then slept in front of our ranch - he claims when he woke up he decided to drive down to the intersection and turn around - he said it would be quicker and easier to leave after everything was unloaded. ;)

He said he has driven trucks forever and has made deliveries just like it countless times - I'm thinking he was stretching the truth just a bit. :p

The real experts arrived about two hours later - I left the camera with my wife - here are some of her pictures

ITHINKICAN, Prior to calling in the large tow truck I wonder why they didn't try to offload the material to take the weight off of the trailer? Thanks for the updates, keep the pics coming!

Who paid for the tow truck? Hopefully the trucking co. right?:D

Oh you are so close ITC, Hopefully they will have better luck putting that sucker together! It's gonna go up quick!

Noticed a lot of x-tra hands on site, are they the building crew?

Is that the entire building package? If it is it's amazing that a 60x40x16 can fit on a trailer.

Anybody ever watch "swamp loggers". In this situation they always PUSH the trailer. The dont try and pull the truck and trailer.
I think it would have been quicker to unload the trailer. Also if it wasn't that far just stack the material at the off load site. Did the load come off in two packages?
I'm guessing because of the way things were situated it would been difficult or unsafe to unload though.

I would have been very nervous that when the straps were loosened the load would have slid off the trailer.

I'M GUESSING BECAUSE OF THE WAY THINGS WERE SITUATED IT WOULD BEEN DIFFICULT OR UNSAFE TO UNLOAD THOUGH.

I'm thinking if they put the forks in from the high side of the trailer and secured the load to the forks they could have easily tilted the load "level" and lifted the load off. The important part would have been to make sure the load was really secured to the forks to prevent the load from sliding.

This is one of those situations that has disaster and injury written all over it.

While I general try to be a nice guy and help out when I can, as soon as the truck got stuck, I would have walked aways, telling the builder he needed to resolve it.

ITHINKICAN,

You said the builder required the balance of the payment once the truck arrived and before it was unloaded..was that just the balance for the materials or was it for materials and construction?

First post here.
New to all this.

We are fixing to put up a 40 x 60 "barndominium" same size basically.
I am going to try to do all that I can myself including erection of the building.
I won't do the concrete though. I need that to be done correctly.

I am watching this with great interest.

Welcome aboard TBN Markrahn.
There are many many threads on here about the construction of buildings. Use the search function and you could have weeks of reading ahead.
The best thing to do is to start your own topic and ask questions.

That exactly what I thought. But you couldn't pay me enough to be the guy who lossened the straps on the truck.
