What's the stainless steel looking extendable arm over the cooktop?

You swing that out over the skillet once the kitchen timer go's off (smoke detector) to douse the flames. It brings the cooking process to a fast stop similar to the microwave beeping.:laughing:

Very nice house and finishes. Gotta love that new house feel and excitement after the long road to get there. Beautiful home and property.

It's been a while since I updated, but the work has never stopped. We encountered a lot of delays in supplies due to COVID so things didn't progress as fast I wanted this spring/summer, but nothing you can do about that.

Anyways, here are a few things we've been up to:

In April, we were able to get our lower patio under the deck poured:

Then, it was on to top soil (free from our road excavation through the ag field), and seeding:

First, stump removal:

By May, it took off (then subsequently dried up with our drought this summer):

I installed almost 300' of gutter guard:

I put up the deck railing using Radiance Rails from Timbertech, and their glass channel kits. Decided to use glorified Plexi for now, but will switch to tempered glass down the road as budget allows.

I built stairs off the deck, but they still remain unfinished due to a nation wide shortage and backorder on Azek/Timbertech:

And I'm in the process currently of setting a 500 gallon propane tank underground:

So, that's where we are in a cliff notes version. There are lots of other small projects I completed that I didn't document, but I felt I should update the thread since I let it go cold for so long!

Thanks. The way I look at it is if delays in home projects is my biggest problem in 2020, I'm beyond blessed!

Nice work, looks great. I imagine those stairs are very solid with that many stringers!

Thanks, and yeah, my dad thought I was nuts, but Timbertech requires stringers to be 10" OC if installing the decking this way.

Very nice all around (site, house, view, everything)!
Gotta ask.....in the picture with the dozer, what is that "box" in the foreground. It almost appears to be extruded plastic?

Edit, never mind, just went back and connected the dots

Finished all of the railings and lighting on the deck stairs last night, so that project is finished.

I'll be the 5th to say it looks great! What about snow and ice? I guess the composite doesn't mind salt?

Friend of mine has it on a deck, North side of house. He hasn't said anything about it's durability with salt. He says it is slick when wet, extremely so with frost/ice/snow.

I don't find mine slick when wet but the it will freeze over and is a pita to get the ice off.

Have you treated it with ice melt and if so how did it react?
