PTO problem

I have a 2005 JD 5205 that has a bucket and a snowblower. While cutting through snow to get to the haystack, I encountered a rock in the throwing empeller that severed something dealing with the pto. Had I encountered the rock in the side pass auger, I would have broken a 5/16 " bolt, but since it hit the throwing empeller, I sheared something inside. With this newer tractor that gives plenty of foot space behind the motor and not straddling the transmission/pto, where do I start in looking for the problem?

Hamner, if you ask this question in the Snow Removal section and give the name of the snow blower... I'm sure you'll get help. I pretty sure there are 2 shear pins... but I can't tell you any more than that.

This is the new member introductions and the owners of TBN had asked that no tractor related questions get asked here... besides, you'll have lots more traffic in that other section...

Are you sure it is not a shear bolt on the PTO shaft?

There is usually a shear pin/bolt on the PTO shaft. On my 'blower, it is located just before the u-joint where it plugs into the blower transmission. It would be covered by one or both of the PTO safety covers on the shaft and blower, so it may not be obvious at a glance.
