Who has one and what do you think of it?

I was working in a yard and talked the homeowner about their robot mower. It was a 9 acre yard very hilly. This little thing was out cutting non stop would go charge then get back to cutting. Lines and stripes were perfectly straight. Owner says it cuts their yard twice a week during the summer. I was pretty impressed.

I from flatland area and just bought some hilly property and was wondering how to cut it. I think I know now.

Pros and cons to these units. It can be a good thing for you if you remove the trouble spots in your land. Then make certain the radio channel has no interference, else the robot could wander off and loose sense to where home base is located.

Be prepared to wash blood off of the robot from time to time too.

How do these things know where to go (and not to go)? Do you need to put some sort of "invisible fence" around the perimeter, flower beds, driveway, etc?

9 acre lawn??!??

He said for this one you walked the perimeter with a wheel that set the boundary. The trees and obstacles inside boundary it dodged and cut around on its own. The downside to the one he was using was you have to be within 15miles of the selling store as it used a ground station from it. I’m guess there is some kind of subscription but I didn’t think to ask at the time. It was tiny tiny mower compared to a zero turn but the yard looked awesome.

You'll love it until it kills your dog.

There are 2 kinds, wire bound like those used for invisible dog fences, and others that use a GPS (RTK) system (some use lidar), I own 3 robots.
