Sheild gas thoughts?

roadhunter I wonder if it is just a matter of not finding the sweet spot of the settings? I've read numerous times where the Millermatic 250 Mig welder has a very small sweet spot. And the average guy has a very hard time setting them up correctly.

I try to please everyone, but reality is, that there are some people that can't or won't be pleased. Although I don't like this, it is a fact of life, and at some point, you have to resign yourself to this. Plenty of people here have bought this unit, if not a few dozen, maybe hundred or so, many who lurk but don't weigh in. I've had relatively few complaints about the units. It's one of our best sellers. There are a few that have had issues, but most have been cleared up. As far as the value...that is made up. I've tracked our used units that people are selling online and on forums, and seen our product sell on Ebay used for as much and more than the user paid for it. I also have helped many customers resale theirs when they wanted to trade up at 80-90% of their purchase price. Anyone that sells their unit for a low ball price is leaving money on the table. There's one I am watching now, and the guy has a price at nearly full retail of his original purchase price and he is getting plenty of interest.

Weld Spatter can and often is simply incorrect stick out and or or gun angle. I see welders at large plants who even complain that the Mig Gun causes too much spatter. More often than not it's gun angle or a wire issue. In my travels I've seen people blame the welder for porosity as well.

yomax4 I got a news flash for you. It is never my fault, it is always the welding machine's fault! ;):D

We use 75-25 here at work, have been for the 21+ years I been here in the old Millermatic 250. It's been a good one, it's been here longer than me and I been here 21+ years. There is no telling how many rolls of wire have been ran thru it!

This is true, ours is this way. You can tell by sound what needs adjusting, if you know what you're doing :)

The sound of the weld is very, very important to me! I can tell a lot just by the sound. ;)

Yes! When the other guy out in the shop strikes an arc, I can tell by the sound 25 feet away that he don't need to be welding, lol.

Ha ha, I've got a long ways to go before I can make out the whispering of a bead. Is weld whisperer a real thing? Every once in a while I get a nice steady sizzle from my stick welder. I'm shooting for better on the MIG.
