( I chastized a buddy of mine once for using regular duct tape on foil faced foamboard instead of the proper foil tape. I know after time the cloth backing will deteriorate and disintegrate, but I've never used clear duct tape for anything. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I'll certainly check it out for this use, I'm all about saving money [properly] if I can. Thanks for the sharing the tip! )

Reading this, you made me stop and wonder if it will work or not. Now I'm not sure. It was recomended to me for use on house wrap, and I used it on a few jobs with good results, but I never personally looked into it.

I'd be interested in learning what you turn up if you decide to do the research. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Otherwise, thanks for posting all the great pics of your workshop. My girlfriend and I are amazed at how quickly it's coming together. Good planning really makes all the difference!!!!!!

The overhead garage doors are in. Wayne Dalton Model 9600. Taupe, R-10 insulated with textured raised panels and 'Stockton' styleline window inserts. Life of home warranty.

I found a bit of info on the tape: Tyvek® Tape is constructed of an oriented polypropylene film coated with a specially formulated permanent acrylic adhesive. Nashua® Clear Duct Tape is made of non-woven polyethylene and also features an acrylic adhesive. They are not the same, but I still haven't found whether it would be acceptable.

I know that the Tyvek tape is designed for a specific purpose and to that end, I am certain that Dupont has tested it to make sure that it stands up to their performance standards. For the small difference in price, would it really be worth the cost savings say 10 years from now when the cheaper tape fails? I know that the local speculation home builders in this area are using the genuine Tyvek tape, and for them to spend the extra money, there must be a reason. Whenever they can save a few $$$ they do.

Junkman makes good sense. In light of my uncertainty, I'd like to retract my recomendation on the clear duct tape.

Especially since you wont need very much, the savings would be insignificant at best.

Eddie

PS, Love the doors. Great color!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, the siding came in last week. Just in time for a couple days of rain but not complaining, we really needed it after all the heat. The Mrs. - you know, the one who said she wanted the siding to match the house color - says right off, "That siding's too light!" /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Siding work began on the backside, putting up the corner and starter channel. Didn't want to put any long siding pieces up back here yet, figured I could use any short cutoffs on the rear without anybody noticing.
