Tractor Supply - how does it work?? (rant)

Tractor Supply... Where everything is either scratched, dented or broken and the 'associates' know little about what the store sells. Great place to shop. Only thing we get there is bird seed, alfalfa pellets and occasionally diesel additive.

Fondly referred to as 'Tough Shitte Charlies' around here.

I've got 2 within 40 minutes of me. One has lots of stuff, but useless staff, they won't even help each other. The other place has great staff, but half the other's inventory.
I'll stick to Agway and our local NAPA.

Most of the Agways around here have closed in the last 10 years or so, only one within a decent driving distance seems to be turning into a pet supply store.

I am very lucky in that we have a huge, active Amish community nearby. They have a amazing farm and hardware stores. Some are HUGE and fully stocked with REAL farming and construction trades equipment as far as the eye can see. One hardware store carries all major lines of electric tools IN STOCK. Another one has every conceivable nut, bolt, hose, belt, chain, PTO, fitting, etc IN STOCK. And yet another has all Agricultural chemicals and farm needs In STOCK.
Youd be missing out to go to a TSC when we have these stores in the same area. Similar prices, knowledgeable people running them and they are local, helpful respectable people.
If you have an Amish or Mennonite community nearby, dont be surprised if they have a well stocked farm store where you can get a lot of what you would buy from TSC or Bezos.

Did you ever look at the HD or Lowes cards? .....29%.... but they do offer interest free 6, 12, or 18 months..... still , legal robbery!

I buy Fancy Scratch for my chickens at Atwoods, which is a bigger, less expensive, version of Tractor Supply. A couple months ago they where sold out, so I went to Tractor Supply. They had a different type of Fancy Scratch that was in a bigger sack and cost more money, but it was a much better mix then what I had been buying. The birds really liked it and we decided to switch to feeding them the TSC Fancy Scratch. This lasted all of two weeks, then they where sold out. I went back to Atwoods and bought a weeks supply from them, and then back to TSC for theirs. Still sold out. I tried the other store and they where out too. I've been back a few more times, but haven't seen it since. It's really nice Fancy Scratch, and I'm sure I'll go again to see if they have it, but I don't know when.

Tractor Supply has some really good stuff, but it's so hit or miss if it will be in stock that I rarely bother to go there to be disappointed.
