Thanks to all, it is something how just wanting a little tractor can get so complicated but I'll tow a long way & want to do it right. Thinking trailer + balancing load + tie down = shoulda got a degree in advanced mathematics!

A swinging tongue can get a long trailer through some tight turns.

Now THAT is a whole lot of hydraulics!

I have a B2620. I haul it on an 18' trailer. I can load the tractor, FEL, and a 54" bush hog on the trailer. I can put the whole unit on the deck, but I find better balance with the tail wheel of the cutter hanging off. That works fine for me, but I only haul this combination 2-3 times a year, and that is for a 5 mile trip over secondary roads. If I was looking at an 800 mile trip, there would be no substitute for a 20' trailer.

I'd have a 20'er, but the primary uses for my trailer only requires10-12' of deck-hauling a ATV, ZTR, etc. The 18' was a compromise to handle my longest load but still be handy for the majority of my work.

I have put my L4400 on my 16ft. with the FEL and Box blade.... My trailer has 2500lb axles... I just picked up the bucket and curled it over.
Trailer balanced out very well. What I would do is talk to a trailer dealer... most will let you demo a trailer to see if fits your exact needs..

Here is the absolute easiest way to KNOW what you need for a trailer bed size. Simply park your machine with all attachments in your driveway, measure it and then decide.

I know that this sounds like a 'duh' kind of statement, but you would be surprised how many people drop money on a trailer that is too small, when all they had to do was lay all of the equipment in a driveway, just like they plan to load it on a trailer and then measure it first.

If you want to get extremely detailed, mark off two parallel lines 82" apart, which approximates the width of most trailer decks between the fenders, as well as an end line, representing the tail of the trailer. Now, park your tractor and load all of your other cargo within those three lines and measure forward to find your front 'go/nogo' line, then measure it.. boom! you KNOW how long of a trailer you can live with.

Now, for the caveat. Remember, that if you just get enough deck to squeeze something on, you will be trapped for movement or expansion. It is always better to get it a little big, so you can choose to back the tractor down the deck to relief some tongue weight for a better ride.

Hope it helps.. sorry for the length.

Good luck and keep your chains crossed!

Thanks and want to do that but they had no 4' bush hog in stock so best I could do was ask to hook a 5' hog & didn't do that. They also don't have every trailer length/type in stock at all times at this location even though they are a pretty big Kubota + rigging dealer. I'm going back to the dealer next week to narrow things down further & will deal with this. Got a bunch of questions on this type of detail to ask & get priced out.

I did measure a B2620 + FEL down + separate 4' LP hog at a different lot and calculated as best I could that it sure wouldn't fit easily on a 16-footer! More later & thanks again for the info.

I haul my B2920 with FEL and rear blade or box blade on a 16' utility trailer all the time. Put the bucket down and nose it against the front rail. If I move the bucket over the rail, it gets a little nose heavy (and I have to remove the tool box from the trailer tongue :D ) I did try to load the rig with a brush hog once, but it did hang over enough that I decided to make two trips.

Not meaning to spam or anything but here is a link to an 18 foot tilt that many people buy just to do what you want. You live in MI, and it's a long way me, but at least you could go looking for this type of trailer where you live.

Hope it helps.

Just make sure you buy something that was built right, go for the 18-20 foot model and get your truck equipped to tow it all safely.

Thanks

That is a nice trailer! I have a buddy in the market for one and I need to get him to go on a road trip. One question - I read the ad for the trailer and it says that the break away battery is charged when the brake lights come on, shouldn't the battery get charged through its own circuit? I think it's the black or red wire in the cord.

Charging with the brake lights is a old trick. It allows just about any tow vehicle to use the trailer, not just ones with a charge circuit. It will work but not right in my opinion.

BX2230 here with FEL and 4' BushHog. I use a 20' trailer and it fits great with the rear gate up. I recommend a 20' since it allows room to balance the weight to your liking. Balancing is important since too light a tongue will tow awful (sway) and too heavy a tongue will make the suspension bounce on some 1/2 tons.

I ride ATV's for fun and have dragged that 20' trailer into some tight places. I always manage to get it out....
