I have put my
L4400 on my 16ft. with the FEL and Box blade.... My trailer has 2500lb axles... I just picked up the bucket and curled it over.
Trailer balanced out very well. What I would do is talk to a trailer dealer... most will let you demo a trailer to see if fits your exact needs..
Here is the absolute easiest way to KNOW what you need for a trailer bed size. Simply park your machine with all attachments in your driveway, measure it and then decide.
I know that this sounds like a 'duh' kind of statement, but you would be surprised how many people drop money on a trailer that is too small, when all they had to do was lay all of the equipment in a driveway, just like they plan to load it on a trailer and then measure it first.
If you want to get extremely detailed, mark off two parallel lines 82" apart, which approximates the width of most trailer decks between the fenders, as well as an end line, representing the tail of the trailer. Now, park your tractor and load all of your other cargo within those three lines and measure forward to find your front 'go/nogo' line, then measure it.. boom! you KNOW how long of a trailer you can live with.
Now, for the caveat. Remember, that if you just get enough deck to squeeze something on, you will be trapped for movement or expansion. It is always better to get it a little big, so you can choose to back the tractor down the deck to relief some tongue weight for a better ride.
Hope it helps.. sorry for the length.
Good luck and keep your chains crossed!
