What do you do with your Instant Pot you cant do with a crock pot?

Lots of answer to my post!! I pass them onto the wife and if she approves we try it.
The pork chops and pork steaks were great. Nice and moist. Thanks to everyone.

My wife was really not interested in a Instapot, Was happy with using the crockpot every once in a while.
Now the crockpot is gone and we use the Instapot 2-4 times a week. Most all our meats are in the freezer and a simple quick way to use them.

Same here, at least 3 meals a week in the Instant Pot. That translates in to a whole week of Dinners for us. Yesterday, we cooked a whole frozen chicken and had to return it to the pot for additional time. This was a first as other frozen foods have cooked in the allotted timeframe.

I have not tried cooking frozen meat, I was wondering how that would work out. I just thaw my frozen meat out in the fridge 2 days in advance of cooking it. But cooking frozen would have an advantage when I forget to do that in advance.

I think the whole frozen chicken was just to large for the cooking time we gave it. We normally find Instant Pot recipes on line and may not have specified "frozen, whole chicken". We have cooked roasts, chops and steaks frozen with great results. Sure is a time saver when you forget to thaw.

Baby back ribs in a crock pot would be meat mush,, not ribs,, so, yes the insta pot is the way to make baby back ribs,,, PERIOD!!

I think there is a place for both an Instant Pot and a slow cooker. What you CAN do in the slow cooker that I am looking at that you CANNNOT do in my Instant Pot is Sous Vide. At least in mine you cannot.

Also sometimes I do a slow 24 hour cook on a soup or bone broth that is going into freezer jars and I do not want to tie up my Instant Pot for 24 hours.

Nothing, it's just quicker. Most everything in minutes instead of hours.

Like rice in 10 minutes instead of 2 hours in the crock pot.

^^^^ the IP has to go through a warm up, then cook, then slowly release the pressure to avoid boiling... so I would not say minutes.

It seems to me cooking a whole chicken in the oven as an example is only maybe 20% slower.

The single pot concept of adding veggies, and less cleanup is a big advantage to me of the IP. Plus the flavor. Just not so much the time difference in cooking.

My wife is a hardcore crock pot holdout, but I’m making inroads. The last pork chops she did in the oven were rather chewy. I need to do some in the IP.

Yep buckeye my wife is the same . . . we just received the IP (I ordered it ) . . . it's a slow cooker too.

I made this tuna casserole last night but being low on groceries I had to improvise a little. No chicken stock so used Beef stock, no cream of celery so used two cans of cream of mushroom. No egg noodles so used a box of Rotini. (use anywhere from 3.5 to 4 cups of broth with Rotini and you should be fine. Due to no celery in fridge I also doubled up on the mushrooms. Also don't understand the pyrex bowl requirement. Used a stainless mixing bowl.

Even with these changes it turned out delicious. Even my picky wife loved it.
