Where to mount a tool box?

/ Where to mount a tool box? #51
Here's the post that Jtullis referenced. I use lots of Goodwill stuff repurposed to carry tools on the tractors. $10??? ... $5 is my upper limit for junk like this. :D

Hey, did you put any drain holes in the bottom of the bags with a plastic grommet should it rain?

No. The tractors are never out in rain, almost never outdoors overnight.

(Unfortunately the appearance of both shows they spent years, decades, left outdoors before I bought them).

Figured I would jump in as well.....after researching a number of options, this worked well for me:

Nice pix resolution. The box is a Husky. Looks durable and it should keep rain out. I do like the clasps on the box as vibration could be an issue. Plus, a good closed box will keep our tiny critters making a nest inside.

For the fire-extinguisher, is that held on with velco straps ????

Thanks. It stays bone dry and the clasp has never loosened up. The extinguisher mount does have Velcro straps and has worked well for a number of years now. It is actually sold as a holder for a JEEP, but also fits the ROPS nicely.

I also have a "Woodsman's Pal" mounted on the ROPS. Very handy for when the need arises to take care of a small limb, brush, sapling, etc.... (pic from when they were mounted on my old tractor)

I welded a pc of 2x2 angle between the uprights of the ROPS and mounted a tool box on the angle.

THe problem here would be not being able to see your 3 pt hitch now . I had the same issue and had to move the tool box .

I got one for $4 at H-F.

18 in. Machete with Serrated Blade

It's come in handy a bunch of times already. Whack things or use the serrated blade like a saw, it does well.

If you look up what a "woodsman pal " is it's a brand with that fancy wood handle and some short looking shaped machete. But same basic tool. The $5 works as well. I have some combi tool thing that's like machete and hatchet I got free I could do the same with

Most of my tractors came with tool boxes, but usually I want a bigger tool box, so I mount a second one.

Once I figure out where it will fit, I bend up some flat bar out of my scrap steel box, and use existing threaded holes in the tractor to bolt it to,

Then it's just a matter of bolting the tool box to the flat bar,

The extra boxes have worked out pretty good for me...
