Where to weld bucket hooks?

I went ahead and cut and welded up the device to move my smaller bumper pull trailers. i had a similar device on my old tractor, and it worked great for years.

I simply gave up trying to use a receiver hitch device, because i could not get it to work without having to climb out of the cab to hook it up. As you can see in the previous post, i put a ball on permanent to the bucket. tested it and it worked great. I'm sure glad i filled the rear tires. this trailer did its best to try and lift the tractor up. Man this trailer is heavy. Ill use this for my goose neck trailers only

i tested this one pictured above....worked great. didn't have to climb out of the cab.

i simply pin it to hole in bucket when needed.

already did yesterday

the tractor has so much lift capacity, i had to feather it to prevent it jerking the trailer too hard. tractor felt a little light on the rear tires, but handled and moved the trailer ok

Nice fabrication work :thumbsup: But that clamp set up looks to be a weak link.
Or does that bolt go thru bucket and have a nut on the bottom?

I can see how that would put the ball right out in an easy to spot location.

the bolt goes thru a hole in the bucket and will have a latch pin installed. this works to provide a lock point AND helps when carrying the thing. If i ever have to haul a very heavy loaded trailer, i can install a washer and nut for added safety

its a larger version of one i made years ago

i can see it nice and easy from the cab, and it attaches to all 3 of my trailers without having to raise the hitches all the way off the ground. i just leave the hitches as they would normally be when offloaded from trucks hitch.

tried the 2-5/16 ball out to move the horse trailer into the carriage barn. work great. Now the wifes trailer is under cover. Man this tractor can lift.

Man, this new 2" offset receiver i made works perfect. I can see the ball pop right into the 2" hitch on my trailers without having to move out of the seat. My old own was a little shaky when attached , but the new one is rock steady.

That is a good feeling when you make something and it works out nicely. That sounds like you have a nice set up thanks for sharing.

You all know that you can lift more, lifting from the back of the bucket, the point closest to the lift pins so why not weld an upside hook by each lift cyl. and a 2 in receiver on the top for all the other accessory's. To lift from one point, connect a chain from both hooks and lift from the middle of the chain. I don't think I would want to bend the lip of the bucket with the total lifting weight on one chain. You could weld one of the hooks straight, and 2 in beside that, weld another one upside down. You then have covered all possibility's. So, two kooks by each cyl, and a 2 in receiver in the middle top.

Here's how I set up my bucket. Its re-inforced (boxed) on the top of the bucket. I think I have a 6" drop in that receiver ball mount. It gets under my trailers (barely).

BUT....I just bought a set of bolt-on hooks from KennyD for my son-in-law's tractor. He doesn't have access to a welder.....and a welding shop will charge more - if we bring in his bucket. Kenny's solution is easier and cheaper for him!
