I bought the tractor to mow 5 acres of land. I also bought a front loader with it. I use the loader almost as much as I use the mower.

TC30 4WD Stick Model
Model Year: 2002

I only purchased it to do landscaping, bush hogging, under belly mowing, snow removal in tight places, pull a New Idea 217 manure spreader, and loader work colored mulch. It has fit my bill very well for 30 HP and that is why I got a stick instead of anything else.

Pros: I cannot complain about this tractor. It was money well spent.
Cons: I do wish that I would have ordered remotes when I did order it.

My New Holland TC30

I love everything about this New Holland. I bought a NorTrac two months before the New Holland and it broke every single time I used it. I was so mad after the 4 wheel drive went out, I went to the New Holland dealer and traded it that day. Could not be happier with my decision. Other than me ripping of the hydraulic filter on a stump in the woods, it has never failed me!

Pros: Compact, easily maneuvered, sturdy frame
Cons: Wish it had a larger bucket capacity

It has held up to unintentional abuse on my part. I have front end loader, pallet forks, rear finish mower, cultivator, plow, and box scrape. I have used it to clear woods, make trails, a garden, keep field mowed for the past 10 years. For its size, it has performed great.

Pros: Dependable, easy to maintain.
Cons: Non-collapsible roll bar, won't go into garage.

After using his tractor for the past decade, I couldn't be more pleased…It has performed well, and lived up to the claims of the manufacturer. It has been very dependable, with no breakdowns. Although I just replaced 2 small hydraulic lines that control the bucket. one line sprung a leak, and I decided to change the other one so they were the same line. I bought it new with industrial tires which have worked well. I bought it with a front end loader, and a brush bull. I would recommend this tractor to anyone looking for a subcompact tractor.

Pros: Very maneuverable, very comfortable seating, roomy layout.
Cons: Exhaust system had to be altered, exhaust would come back at driver.

My TC30

My first tractor owned, have experience operating others (mainly JD's) but that was quite a while ago. The New Holland TC30 is a perfect sized tool for my uses. I own just over 3 acres in Arizona and as I age have found the use of a tractor a boon. It seems to have plenty of power to tackle chores I have for it. Mainly leveling ground and handling drainage issues after monsoon rains, moving dirt and rock and stone, pulling dead smaller trees, just any chore one can think up. The tractor was purchased used with low hours on it, about 485. These appear to be actual hours as the wear on the tractor would indicate. However, the previous owner(s) appear to have deferred some maintenance and overall care. There were minor functional items requiring attention i.e., the top link and leveling arm turn buckles required either new arms or the removal(lengthy) of the arms due to corrosion, and/or re-tapping of the turn buckle itself. Overall greasing and fluid /filter changes and just general care a responsible owner would give. I have put about 10 hours on it and find its performance quite acceptable. For a smaller tractor it has plenty of power and is quite maneuverable. It has a FEL and Gannon box, which in my area are main purpose attachments. As required, I will acquire more and it appears the tractor can handle all of them. Would have been nice to have at least one set of remotes on the hydraulic system. However, research has indicated adding a set may not be that difficult. All in all a good tractor for small land owner use. The only real downside is, New Holland thinks their replacement parts are made of unobtanium. At least that's the way they're priced. Many parts can be replaced off the shelf with ingenuity and research. However, many can't and you are at their mercy. Which they seem to not possess.

Pros: Power, size, maneuverability.
Cons: Cost of OEM parts.

Love This Tractor So Far

Bought TC30 used couple months ago. So far it's been great. It's a 2004 with 350 hrs. and no rust. Was barn kept by previous owner who I bought from. I also have it kept in barn. The tractor has been great. Only con is the lift arms rub the tires with and without implements. I put a bungy cord around the lift arms but have not figured out what to do when the Bush Hog is attached.

Pros: Everything.
Cons: Lift arms sway too much.

I bought my TC30 w/hoe for my own Moto track and to plow snow. When I moved to NY, I started a home improvement business. I've since hammered this thing senseless. I've had a couple of issues. 1- broken axle housing 2-bucket tilt hesitates 3- snapped side plate support for bucket. In fairness, the tilt down problem us the only one that's not my fault.

Pros: Size and power ratio.
Cons: Tilt down on bucket.

Very reliable and still have the original battery. One big flaw with the machine is the lack of skid plates below. I knocked out my hydraulic filter housing twice and my power steering hoses once due to sticks getting hung up below. If you don't mess around with sticks and logs, no big deal. Great fuel economy. Pulls a box blade well. I am getting a bigger machine because I simply need more loader capacity. The machine holds its value well.

Pros: Reliable, good fuel economy, holds its value.
Cons: No skid plate protection below the tractor.

Love My Tractor!

I didn't know how to drive this tractor at all when my husband died. I've learned everything by doing, and often by doing it wrong a few times before I get it right. This is a sturdy, powerful, workhorse of a tractor. I use it with a front end loader for all kinds of things, and it hasn't let me down. I even service it myself, using the very clear instructions in the owner's manual.

Pros: Everything.
Cons: None.

This is my first compact tractor and I'm very happy with it so far. I own band saw mill and was looking for a bigger tractor but came across this unit at a very good deal that I couldn't pass it up. So far it has performed well grading my driveway, mowing the yard, removing stumps, hauling brush and moving logs and slabs.

Pros: Good power and small footprint. Easy on fuel.
Cons: 3x9 trans for loader work.

New Holland TC30

I love my little TC30. It has been a great tractor and its performance has been fabulous. I got it with the front end loader, arena harrow, box blade, post-hole digger, field mower and recently purchased a back blade. My only regret is not getting the back hoe attachment at the time. We have a small horse farm and this little guy is more than up to the task. My neighbors all have 5 acres as well and they are often amazed at what this thing can do.

Pros: Hydro-static transmission is excellent feature. Engine strong and reliable. 4-wheel drive is extremely useful.
Cons: Seat is not the most comfortable. I am not tall, but space is a bit lacking making you sit very upright which is not very comfortable for long extended mowing periods.

Solid Tractor

I purchased this tractor mostly for snow removal, but it has performed beautifully for excavation work and site leveling for building projects as well. I have been pleased with its performance so far. A couple of dislikes: I have the hydro static drive and no cruise control. This should be standard equipment with hydro. Also, I have separate braking control, but with hydro, you would have to have another right leg to actually use! Whoever designed this was not thinking right that day. The only issue I have had is (I think anyway) the neutral safety switch that does not allow it to be started in gear seems to be malfunctioning occasionally. Now and again, it won't start unless I wiggle the gear range selector a little until it will start. I will probably use it for logging purposes as time goes. It has done everything I have asked of it to now.

Pros: Powerful and easy to operate.
Cons: Needs cruise control and left side braking.

Used TC30

Bought a foreclosed home on 20 acres and decided to do a little logging and clean up in the woods. Was close to getting blocked in, so went and rented a tractor for a day. Could see that that would happen again and didn't want to keep on renting, so we bought a NH TC30 on Ebay. It is a 2007 hydro static drive 4x4, and it had 139 hours on it. It came with a NH 7308 FEL and did a fine job of skidding logs down to the road. Later we bought a used brush hog and a rake, and for winter we mounted a NH 716D 63" front snow blower. The tractor seems to be a little under powered for a 63" blower, as I have to slow way down if there is any significant amount of snow, but the biggest problem are the R4 tires the tractor came with. They are very poor for snow and ice. Traction is marginal, and the front steers very poorly. Presently looking into a set of chains. The local dealer has been very helpful. Bought the used snow blower there.

Pros: Handy size. Good on fuel.
Cons: R4 tired poor for winter. Missing rear hydraulic hook in.

My Work Horse - TC30

Back in 2006, when my antique Allis-Chalmers, model C's, (see Allis-Chalmers, model C review), had an unexplained engine jam, I needed a replacement tractor to maintain my 10 acres. I opted for the New Holland, TC30, 4-wheel drive with hydro static transmission. Since my upcoming chores included a sprinkler system installation, a pond dig, a driveway fill, a house addition foundation dig, and of course the never ending weed control, I chose a tractor with a front end loader, a backhoe, a 3 point hitch and 540 rpm rear PTO. Although I could have gotten away with a smaller mid to low, 20's hp rated tractor, I chose the 30 hp since my property has a 30 foot high hill with up to 20% slopes that I have to keep mowed. I have a number of 3-point tools. Besides my 4-foot rotary cutter that I use regularly: a spring tooth cultivator, a rear dozer blade, a box scraper, a post hole digger and a sickle bar mower. I also have a couple pull-behind tools, a drag harrow and an 8-foot disk. All functions of the tractor have performed well. I have had no mechanical issues with the tractor.

Pros: Adequate power, good 4 wheel drive, easy to use hydro-static transmission, power steering.
Cons: 1. Putting on or removing the backhoe take practice and patience. Since I chose to perform this function only a few times a year the required skills fade between change overs and must be relearned each time. 2. The tractor seat covering started tearing after about 3 years and keeps getting worse but still fully functional.
