You know, I bought one of thse Wallyworld gas cans with the sliding neck. The gas comes out so fast that it splashes everywhere when filling my push mower..The school cans never did that...UGH!!!! Safer...Yeah, right..Thanks govt.

not 5 gal.... but works great

i got mine off of CL for $40 I took the nossel thing off the end as it leaked and had slower flow than just sticking the end of the tube in tank.

i have one of the ones form jegs and they work well, i was also at o'reillys and they had some of the 5 and 2.5 gallon cans with the vent less spout, the one with the yellow cap over spout (not the spring ones) any way they were asking $19 for the 5 and $12 for the 2.5 gallon. I know these aren't the best but they are better than the new ones on the market.

O' reilly's must be really marking them up, because I was buying the 5 gal ones from TSC just last year for for around 7 bucks on sale...

I'm lucky in that my fuel fill is about thigh high, so I don't have issues with lifting cans up high, or crappy spouts - I just want them to pour faster.

Defeating the "ventless" aspect of the CARB approved cans works fine for me...

Well, last night I had a "boo boo" with one of those blitz ventless cans. My JD 4120's fuel tank is on the very top of the hood, right in front of the console. I hoist the 5 gal can up, fiddle with the ingenious little lever and spout. While holding a 40lb can up, lining up the nozzle, pushing down on the handle, the long spout (about 8 inches long) pops off the nozzle and GOES INTO THE TANK!!! I tried to fish it out for about 30 minutes and finally gave up and cranked her up and continued to work.

Question, will it be ok to run with that 8 inch long plastic flex tube in the tank? I know eventually I will have to pull the tank, and get this thing out, but that will be a very long and arduous task. Like maybe a winter project.

You should be able to spot the nozzle in the tank with a flashlight in a dark barn. Let the gas run nearly dry and use one of those long flexible fishers with four fingers that come out of the end when the handle is pushed.

The nozzle should not plug up the fuel pick-up so it could stay in there indefinitely.

Oh, and I use a funnel with a screen when filling the tank with fuel. Too late to recommended that now.

the one my dad had NEVER had the little spout on the end.

you ALWAYS had to use a funnel

so go old school.

use a funnel and just pour the gas out the top of the can from the same hole you put the gas in with. F the spring loaded contraption they put on the end.
