Big diesel tractors have gone up a lot in the last 10 years, but the small stuff has not. I think that this is more to do with mass production than anything. The lawn/ garden tractors at the Home Depots have not increased at all, and maybe have even gone down a bit. That creates more of the sticker shock on the PT.
I would contend that much of the reason for flat prices on lawn and garden tractors at Home Depot and Lowes and other places is because of the large decrease in quality over the last 10 years. You used to be able to get good, quality, long lasting machines for those prices. Now, they are throw-away purchases. Of course, consumers drive the market for these types of things. Price seems to be the main concern, too few people demand quality anymore.
