How Strong is the JD Cab's Glass

Everyone,

I was wondering how strong the JD's 3000/4000 series' Cab's glass was? How large of a branch could whack the glass before it breaks? Any idea what the cost would be to replace the glass if it breaks? Has anyone ever had this unfortunate issue happen? I know one of the farmers down the street was on his 4320 last year brush hogging and a stone/small rock flipped up, hit the back window and broke it; needless to say, he was not happy.

It dont take much to break glass we have found numerous dead sparrows in cabs and windows broke . Open rear windows will pop just going over a bump in the road !

I'm surprised to hear that. I consider my 3720 cab sturdy as he11. Although, perhaps I should consider the source. Banged and slapped lots of limbs and branches off all four sides. I've used it in temps as low as 9F, and as high as 96F. Great UV blocking too. The A/C coped well on those 96 degree days. Good seals too. In fact I have to open the left door to make sure I get the right door to latch the first time.

Are you joking right ...i've seen birds break windows, my brother in law worked for autoglass said it happens a lot on outdoor stored equipment .

OK i'm not a hornythologist so should'nt say sparrow for the perfectionists on here but smaller than my fist .

One that came to mind is one day eating lunch there was a bang and a small bird broke the side window right next to me in a JD 3140 with OPU cab like this.

So you're saying some manufacturers use better cab glass that others? Or that you're just taking your BIL's opinion verbatim, and applying it to the 4x20 and 3x20 John Deere tractor line. Remember, that was the original question.

I've worked with glass just about my entire life. When it comes to tempered glass, all bets are off. I have had shower door glass break in the middle of the night just on it's own. I have thrown tempered glass away that when hit on the face with an 8lb sledge hammer it did not break. :shocked: Bent laminated glass tends to be pretty strong once you get away from the edges. Any glass that is not flat or made in mass quantities is going to cost some $$$$ to replace. That is just the way that it is.

Why do you lot love to twist things i'm saying regardless of brand i've seen glass break very easily !

I have seen branches break 3000/4000 series glass too did i measure how many f%$#@ing PSI it took ...no !
