There is a niche market for diesel where some customers no matter what , they are willing to pay a premium price for the diesel option in a vehicle and the higher cost fuel. In a light duty application .
Diesel is back to costing less per gallon than regular unleaded here, and many other places.
The national average for diesel is $2.40 and the national average for regular unleaded is $2.38, so there's essentially no difference, and the diesels get better MPG in similar applications.
Please don't try starting yet another anti-diesel rant that causes this thread to be closed like several others.
The U.S. refineries have amortized the costs of switching to ULSD, the world demand has dropped back to more normal levels and diesel costs have fallen accordingly....just like has been pointed out in many other threads.
