I see it has had a plow on it, What is the front end parts looking/feeling like.
I see a lot of rusty trucks in Vermont that have plowed and sanded and by and large they have more ongoing work than I would want to do at any price.
This is coming from a long time plow truck owner who now uses a tractor for that job.

I will learn more about the front end when I drive it to my mechanic, and have the mechanic look at it, hopefully this week.

The only thing I can say it has going for it in terms of the front end, at this point, is low mileage.

I would love to come across a dually truck with 4x4 from that era! I have a two wheel drive that I would love to change over to 4x4 so the shape of the donor body is of no issue to me, plus mine is also a 6 speed. I have a divorced transfer case I could use, but if I find an F350 like that, I won't have to figure out the missing parts! An F450 would work, I didn't want to have to change out my rear axle to match the front.

Imo The fact it's an f450 w 4wd is an added bonus even if it adds extra repair , maintenance costs. There were a few times I wish my rwd 3500 had 4x4, and a low range mine was also used for plowing and salting as plow and salt controls were just left mounted in it, I wouldn't be that apprehensive if it was me.

If a low range is needed, a divorced transfer case added to a two wheel drive truck should give you that. My F350 in reverse is a little bit fast, and I have considered putting the transfer case in just to be able to go to Reverse in low range when backing a loaded trailer in a tight area.

Makes sense thanks I learned something new, truck is long gone however if I ever find another underpowered 2wd dump truck I'll keep that option in mind.

I also have found most plow trucks tend to be low mileage for whatever reason.

I looked into farm tags but wouldn’t be able to get them because I’m not a “farm”. So annual registration will be a larger cost than insurance.
What are you waiting for? Become a farm. ;)

I’d be interested in anyone from PA on here that has gone through the farm tag process. I looked at the registration form but you need an EIN and to provide tax information (show income) on your farm. While we have a garden, orchard, timber, etc., we don’t generate annual income on our property.

Also, if I hauled a load of something for a neighbor or relative, technically I’d be in violation of motor vehicle code.
