It’s technique, I grip up high and pivot the tree at the root ball to loosen it from the ground while pulling up. Once it’s loose enough, I slide the puller down and finish pulling it out.

I concur. Tractor is worthless if there’s no traction. Weight is detrimental to achieve any results from your tractor. Which is why I zeroed in on the heaviest tractor I can buy.

Drop all implements and your sight glass should read halfway. Raising implements takes more fluids in the cylinders and thus, you’ll get a lower reading. Perfectly normal.

The combination of no triangulation brackets, fully extended cylinders, and large forces acting on the stump digger is a recipe for trouble. That stump digger certainly looks it’s designed for skid steers.

I’m curious how yours is set up. I have an ANBO grapple which moves quite a bit which requires long hoses. I built a flexible hose guide to keep the hoses from getting into the wrong places. I’ve never seen a “live” flexible connection anywhere and I’ve been around hydraulics for quite some time.

I realized that I needed an adjustable stop for the 3ph to stop at a certain point off the ground so I whipped this up. One “before” shot ad two “after”’s. Now I can dial the stop settings so my forks hovers just above the ground each time.

I’d simply pull the cylinder off instead of hauling the entire backhoe to the shop. I’ve bent a cylinder one and with my 20 ton shop press and some oak blocks, I got it straightened out & worked fine ever since.

Webbed winches. They are screwed down with long lags to the posts. First pic shows 2x6 board nailed to the side where the top is positioned to hold the truss. Same on the rest of the posts. Crank it up until they snap in place, make minor sideway adjustments, then drill & install bolts.

Many shop builders assemble their trusses on the ground in sections and crank them up in place. I did that to my shop and it’s entirely possible to do it with just one guy but it’d go faster with each guy on the corners.

Dry well. I had two and I dug a hole to allow surface water at one corner of my house a place to go, away from the house and into these tanks that has holes at the bottom and the hole back filled with gravel up to 1 feet below the surface before fabric separates from the topsoil.
