??? BAD COMPRESSION ??? now what I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP

I am not able to find any compression specs for the 1710. On the 20 series (1720-1920) they call for 475 psi + or - 50 psi. These are different design motors, but this is an example. The valve lash specs are .008 cold. You could try cylinder leak down test to narrow things down.

??? BAD COMPRESSION ??? now what I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP

I will check the compression specifications in my manuals later today and post that information. As Roadworthy mentioned, what voltage is present at the glow plugs. Check when in preheat and starting positions. Check the resistance of each glow plug. Does the glow plug indicator glow when you...

    Stihl recommendations

The majority of the oak that I will usually come across is between 14" and 24" with the occasional ones pushing over that. Probably about 10 percent would exceed 24" and I am not using the saw daily. Just clearing my property and using for firewood.

I am looking for feedback on 362, 462, or 500. I will be using a 25" bar or possibly a larger second bar? Using it for dropping oak and pine varying from 8" to 30". Then using saw for bucking and firewood. Currently using 250 and 291, that is not enough for the bigger jobs but will still be...

    2120 front end leak

That part is just a pivot point. The part behind that is a solid piece of metal, that is part of the front axle assembly. If I remember, there are power steering lines attached to the frame above the pivot point. Could it be leaking from the front harmonic balancer seal? I would recommend...

    1993 2120 hss 12x12 hydraulic filter help

On the WIX site, I came up with 51208 for the hydraulic filter. It didn't specify what transmission is used in this model. Note: I just looked that number up, they say it is used on the 1910 also. That is not correct. I would take the filter to your local Napa dealer to confirm.

    Ford 1710 Dual Stage Clutch?

If it does have a two stage clutch, the PTO clutch is possible rusted together and stuck. One possible way to free up the clutch is to attach a brush hog and run it in high grass with the clutch depressed. You would have to engage the PTO before starting the tractor, safety switches would have...

Ford NH 2120 chatter in 4wd

Ford 1910 Fuel in the Oil and Puking Out Breather Tube

There isn't a lift pump on that model. As for the starting on those models, you have to always use the glow plugs. Check the resistance of the glow plugs and make sure they are getting power. If I remember correctly, there isn't a oil overflow line connected to that injection pump. Could the...

Weird part welded on 4wd lever on Ford 1710

It is most likely operator error. With slightly mis matched or worn tires, the 4 wd lever is hard to disengage. If you put it in neutral or reverse direction, the lever will move freely. Some people just slam the lever down with their foot. This is probably what happened to yours.

Weird part welded on 4wd lever on Ford 1710

Lifting up on the lever engages the 4 wd. Some people just step down on this lever to disengage 4 wd. Most of these do not disengage easily without keeping wheels straight and changing direction to take pressure off the drive train. It looks like the lever got damaged and when they repaired...

I you want to go through the work you could part it out. These tractors are getting hard to locate parts for. If you have a good engine, someone would buy it to keep there tractor running. Flywheel, steering box, sheet metal, 4 wheel drive, hydraulic pump and rims are always in demand.

1210 PTO stopped and oil started leaking from below PTO shaft

    Ford 1910 4wd not working

Unfortunately on the 10 series tractors the front driveshaft cover is a solid tube. The only way to inspect that driveshaft is to remove the gearbox or front axle. The term I am using "dropbox" is the gearbox that powers the 4wd driveshaft. On these tractors this gearbox hangs under the main...

    Ford 1910 4wd not working

With the tractor in 4wd, that will hold the pinion from spinning. That is only if the 4wd is engaging the transmission properly. If you are not hearing any grinding noise while rotating the tires, I would suspect the 4wd is not engaging at the transmission. You can remove the 4wd drop box...
