Anybody own a Guardline Driveway Sensor?

I agree weird. The car/truck are parked in the same place for the last 2 days since the install nothing has changed. Now weak signal to base unit.Go figure?Might consider the 1/4 mile unit down the road. Not sure yet.

Guardline let me ship the return unit freight free, and they basically gave me the 1/4" mile unit at the same price as the 500' model. Don't see why they wouldn't do the same for you if you ask. This is why I think they should just do away with the 500' model or perhaps re lable it to the "100' model" instead.

I would try different receiver locations also. Mine sits right on the window sill. I know nothing about the 500 model but wholeheartedly recommend the 1/4 mile unit. A straight line from mine to the house is pretty much solid trees. I marked on the map the location of my sensors. I also posted a picture of the one closest to the house.

THUMBS up eddie. Not impressed with the guardline 500 ft.Unit.Might be looking into the 1/4 mile one instead..I currently have a older chamberlin driveway alarm that has been flawless for the last 7 years but wanted unit with more sensors around our property.

You may not get them right away if you call. If you get a voice recording, do leave them a message with your number. They will call you back. The first time I called, I think it took them like two days to call me back but the guy was very apologetic and it was before Christmas, so I could see it being busy. They are also in Seattle, so it may be after working hours your time when they call back.

It worked . Range testing will have to wait till it quits raining :(. Got just over 2-1/4 inches so far.

Well it quit raining, so I set the receiver in a upstairs window, put a short hose on the transmitter and took it to the gate. Held the transmitter above my head, it worked from the gate posts on either side, but there were a lot of dead spots also. Move it two inches and it would work, just like any UHF radio system.

Google maps shows it to be 1800 feet, the first 200 feet is through the trees, so it might not work when the leaves turn green.

Of course it worked fine on the downhill side of the trees, it is line of sight to the window.

It's why I never use wireless stuff in my security business. And if I have to, get the most expensive stuff on the market.

Radio is too variable. Noise levels change. I have a garage door some two hundred feet from the house. Most days, using a transmitter from the other side of the living room is not a problem. Some weird days (usually the sunniest) , standing next to the window, holding the transmitter in all kinds of positions will finally get the door to open. Such is the wireless world. Nothing physical has changed outside. That's not something I want for security. I use an underground, wired vehicle sensor, with direction logic and lightning detection. Made by Sure Action.

I have used everything for detection, Beams, Infrared, microwave. Animals will soon make you disregard the thing in the middle of the night, so what's the point. Finally decided on vehicle detection, and they do make solar powered versions. And companies like Innovonics do make high quality alarm links.

At one time, I was thinking of specializing in such things but decided my sanity was more important! Over the years (decades) I bet I made so many trips up and down our thousand foot driveway to service, check or change various systems, it would probably equal the distance to the moon!

Just a hint though, Anything usually works when "testing" it.
