Our dog is a great alarm also. She has a more high pitch bark(BONKERS) when its a car or human coming down the driveway verses a deer or neighborhood cat.Still have not heard back from Guardline company.SIGH..We were going to give the 1/4 mile unit a try but not so sure now.

Give them a chance to call you back, at worst, call again and let them know they never called you back and you're mad.

I had to wait for their return call.

That said, when I talked to them, e-mail and return phone call afterwards went very easy, and everything was taken care of.

Currently I'm dealing with Sirrus radio for my fathers home stero system down in the basement, and they have the technology with "live chat", but I ALWAYS have to deal with someone who can't speak English over the phone, and through miscommunication because I can't understand them, still trying to rectify my issue with an antenna.

We've had good luck with one called Dakota Alert. It uses an old fashioned air hose like service stations used to (maybe still do) have. The air pressure closes a contact that then sends a signal to a receiver in the house. Works on our fairly long driveway, maybe 500-700'. Like it so well that we bought a 2nd one for the mailbox. Can have up to 4 different whistles or rings to tell which one.

We had another one before that either didn't work or gave false signals (like from deer in the driveway).

Only problem has been at temps down below about 25 F, the air hose is too hard or pressure is too low in it for it to work.

You can adjust the sensitivity of the pressure switch.

Guardline is in Seattle, remember the time zone difference. I don't think they are a big enough company to keep people on around the clock. I think it took them 2 or 3 days to return my first phone call, but I can only guess. Once we went to e-mail (gave it to the guy over the phone), it did go easier. They e-mailed me the return packing info and he did forget to give me my sales code, but a quick email response to remind him and I got it. All that said, the 1/4 mile unit solved my problem, so in hindsight, it wasn't too bad.

I've already been down the road to speaking to the "english tech" once with Sirrus. Had to call back and went down the EXACT same road dealing with someone who couldn't speak English. I'd much rather prefer their instant messaging service off their website once you log in (Sirrus), however, that is only good for Billing questions (if you need actual help with the equipment, you HAVE to call). So far I have NOT been impressed with Sirrus, but my father likes the 40's channel so much in his car, that it's something I will deal with so I can get it in the house for him.
