I would suggest going back to him and asking how an injection intothe exhaust can ruin valves? Post the answer. I'm curious.

Yep me to and I wonder what the cost for the repair was. I'll post back when I get to talk to him.

DEF is injected in the exhaust stream, no where near the heads or valves.

He needs to find a new mechanic!

Not sure if this relates but it does talk about cracked valves, Check this out. As I said guys don't shoot the messenger,some may not like what others have had troubles with but it is what it is, whether it be Ford dodge Chevy issues are issues.

The only way DEF could destroy the valves is if someone put DEF in the diesel fuel. DEF is injected in the exhaust and is never near the engine.


Only saying what Ford mechanic told him but are you a Licensed Ford mechanic?

Ummm, you don't need to be a licensed Ford mechanic to know the general workings of the truck. Do you have to be a Ford tech to check oil? Put fuel in? Geez dude.

So, with your general knowledge of a trucks workings.... You don't see how a malfunctioning DEF system can burn valves the same way a clogged up catalytic converter does a gas motor?

If too much DEF is injected and it causes issues with the DPF regen process, bad things happen. Could it wreck exhaust valves? Maybe.
