Thank you.

We're waiting. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Seriously, I envy you getting to be part of this project.

My postholes on the job I'm on are between three and a half to four feet deep. The last thing I do before starting the post setting is I clean out the debris in the hole left over from the augering.

It's hard work, sixty two holes. But if feels good because it's part of the process. Standing back and looking back at a well done job is also part of the process. But contrary to popular opinion it isn't necessarily the best part of the process.

There's such a feeling of satisfaction when little steps lead to a view most folks never get to see.

I'm pretty sure you can relate to this feeling. It isn't work. It's living.

Sorry for the rant. Love your project.

Absolutely wonderful building Bebster! If I built that on my place the only time the Mrs. would see me would be holidays. On second thought she might think that was just fine so I better stick to a pole barn. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Please keep the photo's coming. We sure are enjoying them.

Bebster,

That sure is beautiful! When can I move in? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Keep them coming I sure have enjoyed watching the progress.

What a beautiful sight. Timberframes are so pleasing to the eye. It's almost a shame that they have to be covered over with siding and a roof.

Thanks for the photos.

All timbers now on the frame. As Cliff said, too bad it just can't stay like this.

Great minds think alike!!!!!!

Where in the heck is that bebster with his pictures?

Every now then throughout the day I'll get on a rant with some poor fool who happens to wander within earshot. I'll start telling them how kewel TBN is. One of the things I'll rave about is bebster's timber framed barn.

Possibly he had to go back to work to earn the money to pay for the barn. From the pictures that have been posted so far, it looks like that barn is more costly than the average home. I was showing the pictures to my wife and she asked if it was a barn or a home with a garage underneath. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Needless to say, I am envious of the barn and the view of the ocean that it has.

You're so right -- had to spend some time on my day job recently! But progress has been steady. Here's a photo of the ceiling being nailed on. It's 1x8 tongue and groove pine running vertically. In this photo you can see some of the electrical wires I ran on top of some of the rafters -- these are for future ceiling fans and I wanted the wires concealed so they had to go on now. The wires will run on the outside of the frame down to the main panel in the basement.

The wires run down the outside of the post in a little channel I made of 5/8" plywood strips and then into the basement through the rim board. The plywood strips also serve to space the structural panels out from the frame so that later I can slip in some 1/2" drywall for an interior finish wall if I want to.

Drilling through the ridge beam to feed the ceiling fan wire was not that easy. But the crew had fun with the task.

Bebster we need to talk.

I don't even want to think for the "d" word and that barn!

Probably one of the funnest things in projects like this is figuring out how to hide stuff like wiring and plumbing. Some people think of it as being _____ retentive but I think of it as the difference between good and great.

Keep giving us pictures. We like pictures. It makes us feel like you and yours are ours.

Finally, a little celebration topping off the ridge beam with a little branch as an homage to the tree gods. Next step: installing the structural insulation panels.

OK, having just finished a 32 X 48 pole barn I am fully qualified to tell you that if that tree branch they are putting on for good luck is not properly bolted, braced and safety chained in place it could fall on a windy day and......oh heck just getting out of bed you could slip and fall.....never mind!
BUT!!! Keep your coffee covered, pine needles in your coffee is a good way to ruin your day!
