What's wrong with mowing at 8am any day of the week? Maybe with the exception of New Years Day? I would be happy that my neighbor was maintaining their property. I suppose they have fewer rights because they don't own as much land.

Some people who work during the week like to sleep in on the weekend and consider it rude to use machinery before a certain hour.

I don't understand the logic that whoever was in a particular area first automagically gets to define acceptable behavior, common sense & decency. That is what is being done if you try to fit in with idiots just because they preceded you. What is their argument, "If you didn't want to put up with idiots, you shouldn't have moved here." ?

Fortunately I don't have neighbor problems. My sympathy to those who do though.

Much of this debate has less to do with where one is from (country vs city) and more to do with common sense, common decency, and common respect. It has more to do with HOW one was raised, rather than where one was raised.

Don't even get me going on common sense and the like, as it's been said, "common sense isn't all that common."

And some people work both... It's also better for your body to keep a consistent internal clock. You're lucky I'm not mowing at 6am because that's when I'm showered and ready to go....I'd wait until 8am to be civil.

I wait till 9am to fire up anything, my one neighbor and his wife are pretty good friends of ours, they have said that they can't even hear me unless they are sitting on their deck. My other neighbor, I really don't care either way, he's has chainsaws running at 6am sometimes.Between him and his 2 mutts I'm not sure who is more stunned. We should start a thread about other people's dogs, I bet there is alot of stories.

Holy Smokes. Just read this and amazed at your patience and not amazed that the courts haven't wrapped this up.

Sounds like a lady on the council here who is trying to get a privacy fence took down that my dad and I put up. She says it's on city property and that we have no right to block the road off. "Which we do" as the road was vacated years ago and dad has documentation saying that the street now belongs to him since he owns properties on both sides of the street.

An attorney even confirmed that the cities wrong. She keeps threatening to get the city tractor to push dirt up around our vehicles and have the city maintenance man come and knock our fence down.

We used to be friends with her until she got on council and changed her attitude. "She now thinks she's GOD"

She keeps saying she's gonna take us to court. But she won't be able to do anything as the fence is not on city property and the city doesn't own the road anymore. Even the city maintenance man told me that they couldn't maintain the road because it's not city owned anymore.

The council lady told me that they want to "NOW" after 25 years start maintaining the road. "I laughed at her". and said sorry.

The city ain't getting the road back unless they pay us a kazillion dollars to BUY it back.

She said we'd receive a violation letter in the mail in a week and 3 weeks have passed and still no letter.

Next time, electrify the fence and see how she likes it!

Now that would be hilarious. It just might work.
