Are these companies paying the states for the use of prisoner labor? If so, how is this a corporate rip-off (provided the states are paid a fair amount)?
The night shooters across the river who shoot all the time....do you live in a city or town limit that has regulations on discharging firearms? I admit its not wise to shoot into the night but in the country regardless of houses and where they are there in no law against shooting your guns on your property.
Unfortunately, this is a loose, loose for everyone.
1. The horse owners are out a horse and more than likely a large vet bill.
2. The general public will have to foot the bill for prosecution and a possible jail stay. In addition, we will have to fight off all the proposed ideas of how to stop shootings like this. Such ideas will ultimately inconvenience the people who follow the law and will have little effect on criminals.
3. The perpetrator will have fines, court costs, and MAYBE some jail time.
So, who looses the least in a situation like this?

How about this one
watch the video for this on the same page and tell me what you would do
Hmmmmm....Your post sounds a little one sided....it would be like me saying "Being a parent is more than dropping your pants and knocking some chick up". Remember it does takes two to make that baby and both mother and father should be responsible for the raising of that childWith that being said I do agree that many "parents" expect others like teachers, daycare staff, coaches or worse yet.....the streets to raise their children. They also give their children numerous materialistic things to "babysit" them. I'm not even sure how many parents sit down and have a family meal every night with their children nowadays. My children are grown now and out of the house but when my children were younger and invited friends over for dinner almost all of them were shocked that we sat down together as a family for dinner and actually shared about how our day was!
Who doesn't lose? The people who make a living off of the justice system. The politicians who can say they made the world safer by trying to take guns away so people don't shoot horses. The lawyers who will get paid to go to court to fight the case. The sheriff who can now qualify for that federal grant because he has 'violent crime on the rise' in his area and can hire another deputy.
Who pays for all this? You and I.
Who can change the system? The same people I mentioned above, the ones that currently profit from it. What incentive do they have to change?
Think about it. There's a whole industry built around catching, prosecuting and holding the bad guys. Why would they want fewer bad guys? Even if they're not intentionally thinking along these lines, why would they seek out new and inventive ways to put themselves out of work? Which is exactly what successful rehabilitation and elimination of crime would do - put them out of work.
Sorry - all the new taxes are putting me in a cynical mood. My county board of supervisors is talking about raising taxes again and saying if we dont just go along they'll have to fire teachers, firemen and deputies, but at the same time they're pissing away money on something that most people would see as a vendetta against an outspoken critic of theirs.
