Yes I realize the weight aspect but I'm not buying a new tractor anytime soon. The 3 I have will have to last me the rest of my life unless something catastrophic happens to one of them.

I think you would be better served by using the the 60" one. 5 feet will cover your tracks and will actually put more weight on the ground.

The most weight on these units are the sides and 3ph... the wider you go the less pressure per inch of blade you'll get. Just divide the weight by the width, easy math. Beside, shorter ones also just happen to be cheaper... :2cents:

I would go with the heaviest 5' blade I could fined. I would definitely go with nothing wider than 6' for your L2800, should you decide to go wider than 5'.

Most back blades I have seen, you get what you pay for. HD blades are well worth the extra bucks.

5 foot = 8.9 lbs per inch
6 foot = 8.3 lbs per inch
7 foot = 7.7 lbs per inch
8 foot = 7.4 lbs per inch

Just driving home the point, bigger is not always better (or heavier)...

I got the scarifies and the ability to go in reverse in mine....very very worthwhile options....especially the scarifers....I use them often on my aweful rutted out dirt hill road.

Update: I ended up with a 5' Yanmar (rebranded Woods). I think I made the right decision getting the 5'. Spent some time with it today and was shocked at how well it works over the box blade I was using.
