What are the major differences between these two machines? Looks like Engine HP and PTO HP are the biggest differences. Just wondering if there is a big difference in performance and other specs. Maybe loader lift capacity? The dealer quoted me $23,705 for the L4400 and $26,356 for the L3940.
Thanks,

The GL3940 has a better FEL with better rollback angle and dump angle. The 3 PH is a little beefier and the lower lift links on the 3PH have the extendable lift links. I would look at the MX5100 for the money it is a lot of tractor. They all can be purchased with HST transmission. I have a L4400HST and it is a good machine.

OK, in all seriousness, I don't know all the differences, but I think the L4400 is more of an economy model, whereas the Grand L is a Cadillac/ BMW with all the bells & whistles ... in fact, more bells & whistles than any other compact utility tractor, to the best of my knowledge. No corners cut. Nothing to regret, unless you think you might regret a little extra money being gone from your account.

Heaver everything from FEL to three point hitch on the Grand L. Mater of fact the L3540 has higher lift cap on FEL and three points then the L4400,now nothing wrong with the L4400 just that the Grand L has so much more of everything. ask me how I know?

Just so you know, however, the tractor itself is nearly identical between the smaller grand L's and the L4400. Basically the L4400 is built on the grand L platform, but without as many features. Some folks like all the widgets, I personally don't and would rather have the L4400.

I do! I do! Ooh-ooh, I do!!

The widgets give you more options to be able to do more things in different situations, IMO.

For example, a big one is that the Grand L offers Kubota's H-DS (Hydro Dual Speed) transmission, which involves a lever on the left side of the steering column which lets you switch between high & low speeds for each of the 3 ranges (H M L) without stopping or even letting your foot off the HST pedal - Just bump it either up to go faster or down to go slower. I use it all the time.

Here's all the info on the HST Plus transmission: What's HST Plus?

What are you planning on doing with the tractor? Maybe one will suit your needs and budget better, this will help with the responce from members. Are you thinking FEL work? Are you thinking HST or gear? Any special attachments needed on front? Try a test drive on both at nearest dealer. Good luck! Philip.
