The first three images are the "after" - of the fill, grading, prep for seed work where the old driveway was.

The last two images show the same areas "before"

PineRidge on the TC40 doing some of the heavy lifting on the fill operations.

JASTN70D was there that day too, but I missed getting a pic of him.

This is a picture of all the rocks, roots, and other trash that I raked out of of the topsoil we used to fill in the old driveway.

A couple of shots of a 2' x 2' x 3' catchbasin that I'm building at the the bottom of the old drive, next to the new drive. This area is the lowest part of our front yard - probably 4 to 6 acres drain to this point, before passing under the new drive thru the culvert in the picture.

The basin should have about a foot or so of sediment trap in the bottom. It will have a cast iron grate on the top when finished so it can be driven over when I mow if need be.

In a previous post I showed the dropoff behind the polebarn (IMG 1222.jpg) A couple of weekends ago I decided that the three trees near the edge had to go because of the hazard of them coming down onto the barn due to how close they were to the edge and the unlikihood of me getting a retaining wall built yet this year. My wife and I were working on taking them down and my neigbor Zack happened to show up and started to help us.

After a bit Zack decided to go get their new JD CUT to help out. Wasn't too long after that that his Grandpa, Jeff, showed up to investigate what he was up to. We got to talking about what we were doing as far as taking the trees out and the retaining wall, etc. and Jeff ended up talking me out of putting in a retaining wall and just grading off the bank and planting it grass. It would have been a huge job for me alone but Jeff offered to go get the JD 310 and Bobcat to speed things up a little. :D

Of course he no sooner had gotten the JD down to the site than someone else was ready to take the controls .... so Jeff had to settle for the Bobcat. :D

And it wasn't long before Zack was ready to get some Bobcat seat time himself.

Jeff made fairly short work of the tree and stump removal with the JD

With all of us working in such a confined space it was about like a three-ring circus but it turned out just fine .... after a little bit it was like a well-oil machine. Jeff took out the trees and lossened up the top soil, I used the B2910 and boxblade to pull it away from the dropoff and pile it up for Zack who used the Bobcat to move it over into the woods and pile up out of the way.
