I am having a pole barn/workshop/garage built & thought I’d post a few pictures of its progress. It will be 30’ x 40’ with a concrete slab & metal roof. The siding will be t-111.

The site was partially cleared a few years ago & used for my in-laws to park their motor home. Before construction could begin, I needed to clear a few more trees & have some clay delivered to bring the entire surface up to the grade of the existing motor home pad.

The first picture, taken Sept. 9, shows what housed my BX-22 since I got it - - it worked fine, but it was temporary. I really need [at least want] a cement floor to remove/install implements.

Sept 9 - 28 I spent a good bit of time digging up trees. The worst was a double holly tree, pictured here.

The surface is evened out more with box scraper. The operator is the guy I hired to build the barn - - he's the son of a neighbor down the road.

Drilling holes for posts. He hit a root & broke a pin on the last hole. He had to back the auger out with a pipe wrench. The poor helper had to finish that hole by hand.

Glenn, your question got me to looking at what I had posted. There was a slight operator error [me] - - sometimes I'm calendar impaired. I think it was my 5th post where I said the next 3 photos were made on Sept 26 - - well shoot, that's wrong. It would be hard to stake out the corners, smooth the surface & drill the holes before the loads of clay were delivered. I meant to say those next 3 photos were all from Oct. 26.
Bottom line is that real constuction began Oct. 26. Once they started they made great progess.
A load of lumber was delivered yesterday. The contractor should be back tomorrow - - although a cool front is supposed to come through & bring some [badly needed] rain.

Nov 2. Started truss construction. Made pretty good progress till the rains came. Since work stopped, we've received almost 3.5" of rain. I assume work will begin again tomorrow. With the passage of the cool front I don't know if you'll see many more guys working sans shirts.

Building is a lot of fun mixed with frustration.

I love doing it as a part time hobbie.

Nice looking shop. Have fun with it.
