We took a couple pics with the tape measure on Thursday on the very opposite side vs the plumbing (they showed approx 5"). The AWESOME Company asked if we wanted to take a couple more measurements Saturday morning as the trucks began to pour. We can't say enough about our AWESOME experience. These guys ROCK!!

They did a ramp entrance for the each of the three roll doors - the entire crew worked straight through from 7:00am until about 4:00pm - the dedication was impressive.

Everything looks great ITC!

What's the temperature down there? Kids are in t-shirts!

How will the building be attached to the slab? Is that what the 4 bolts spaced periodically around the perimeter are for, attaching the columns?

Post 82.
I'm just learning.
What is the purpose the trenches filled with rebar?

Wedge

You are building a concrete beam for structural support (like a steel I-beam). Without the concrete beam, the foundation (even at 6 inches thick) would break into pieces as the ground shifts or you drive something heavy on it.

Another term for that kind of concrete beam is a 'grade beam.'

Congratulations on your land and building. I noticed your lawn chairs and shelter in one of the pictures. I still have one of my old lawn chairs from when we were building our house in the country in 94. I use to just sit around feeling happy about our property.

We have a 60x40 on one of our farms and sure wish we could afford another.

TR, Thank you! We are very excited. It is our "1st rodeo" - it is definitely a lot of fun.

Ross, any updates, pics?
Stanley, Actually - Yes. Our building has arrived! But of course there is a story to go along with it...

Our building was scheduled to arrive Thursday 12/30/10. Our contract asked us to pay the remaining balance upon receipt before unloading. So Thursday morning we rushed over to pay & receive at 8:00am - we rushed because we didnt want to interfere with the delivery drivers day or delay our crew either.
Unfortunately things didn't exactly go as planned - here is what we saw when we arrived :shocked:

The driver was wearing a dark blue t-shirt with ketchup & mustard stains (I think I even saw a coffee stain too) - obviously hadn't done laundry in several days - the look on his face was priceless. I interrupted his pacing back and forth and asked how much the load weighed - mumbling under his breath he said the load was 17,000 lbs and the rig with trailer was 30,000 lbs = total 47,000. I assume his guesstimate was somewhat accurate - not sure.

My two boys asked, "Daddy - What are they gonna do now?"

Obvious answer - lets lift it out with that forklift thingamajig. NOT!

Daddy! Daddy! Oh wait - I have an even better idea - why don't you use your tractor - both of you guys can try to tow at the same time
