My own preference is Krown. Goes on thin so it penetrates and creeps and then the carrier evaporates and leaves a light grease like surface that doesn't harden. I've tried rust Check and that doesn't seem to be there after a couple of months. The spray on tar like coatings don't last and crack holding moisture. My 2 cents worth............mike

Agree with Mike-I wouldn't use a Ziebart type rustproofing on anything. It tends to clog drain holes and dry up and crack..Not familiar with Krown, but if it's a penetrant and not a heavy coating that would be the ticket if you want to coat it--Fluid Film is another option although you gotta do that every year or so.

Personally, I haven't rustproofed any of my trucks in the last 25 years and PennDot loves them some salt and caustic brine here...I just keep them clean and haven't had any issues at all.

Here in VT I run a fluid film undercoating on both our rigs. Works great

Another vote for fluid film, but it's to cold to apply outside now.
Just rub a sheep on everything.

My FIL has an auto shop at his house. Throw it on the lift and leave the heat on for a few hours :D

Fluid film for mine too. I just fog the inside of the doors and tailgate, and then a few key areas like rocker panel corners, etc.

It would be a long drive for the OP from Kaukauna,Wi to even Western Vermont!

I just did my dually this SUMMER in Mississippi with temps around 90 deg F. Thankfully I've enough clearance I don't need a lift to slide under it.

Fluid film is good as well, same consistency as Krown, works the same way, penetrates and then the carrier evaporates. Krown is an every year type also.......Mike

I had my 2015 RAM Waxoyl'ed it is a wax type undercoating, I had looked at and considered the Krown and Fluid Film products, but the waxoyl sounded like a more durable product.
Had to take it to Vermont to get it done, for some reason no places here do it.

I under coated my truck when it was maybe five years old.
Wire brushed sand blasted any rusted spots, sprayed on phosphoric acid, followed by rust coat paint. To finish sprayed on a mixture of kerosene and roofing gunk. Also gets crown coat every fall. Seems to have worked on most areas.

22 years old this month.

Raw linseed oil also works.(raw, not boiled as boiled actually contains driers or hardeners)
You warm it up and it sprays like thinned paint but thickens as it cools.
It loves rust and will get soaked in just like a blotter soaks up ink.
(a couple of drops on a rusty steel flat will soon become a large stain)
LOL, the odor goes away after a while.
Aviation used linoil to coat insides of tubular airframe structures for years.

Once on a VW beetle (they were rust magnets) I coated the undersides of the fenders and joints as well as the rockers and that VW resisted rust for as long as I had it.

Made my own tractor cab and coated all the square tubing insides with linseed oil and to date not a sign of rust. (like 12 years or so)
Also painted (slopped) linseed oil under my fenders.

It has the properties needed. Adhesion, flexibility, water repulsion and longevity. (actually the basis for many 'oil based paints' and enamels.)
Many old time painters would add linseed to low quality paints in order to improve the durability and adhesion

If your up to doing it yourself... a product like fluid film is great. anything that has the ability to "creap" into cracks is a good thing.

I believe undercoating is more of a quantity over quality product. you need everything coated, so finding a good shop/person to do the work is more importanat then the product being applied.

that said, if the truck is new, Krown is the only company that offers a warranty against rust... but read the fine print!

Fluid film and if you want to do it the easy way buy it by the gallon with a spray gun designed for it and put that stuff on everything. I have used it for years, then last year I found a Co online that designed a spray gun for it and all I can say is what took me so long. Much better, easier, consistent application. If I can find the paperwork I will edit this post with the info on the one I purchased.
