I come from an old farming background - although my career lay in other areas. But my dad, a full-time farmer, always had enough to handle the routine, and made arrangements for the extraordinary. If I were to win the lottery and money were no object, I would certainly have a large tractor - sitting in a nice new tractor barn/shop with all its implements. But I have a limited income and a tractor shed, so I have a CUT for all I need on a regular basis. I think buying a much larger tractor for use once a year or so is awfully extravagant. I've had to borrow neighbor's stuff only a few times in several years and couldn't afford to have all that extra and expensive horsepower and capacity sitting in my shed for use an hour or two a year. I guess I should have said the CUT does all I "reasonably" or "normally" need.
But I have no issue with people who buy more power than they need if they can afford it. For most folks in such cases the extra tractor capacity rises out of the realm of land utility and becomes hobby/personal interest. And that's great. Reading TBN, many people seem to admit just that.
I think your approach makes a lot of sense, no doubt. I'm pretty much a weekend warrior, so time is important to me, and that's something that can be hard to judge when someone asks for recommendations on equipment. I'd rather have a little extra capability, and not have to ask for help as often because a lot of times, that help isn't available exactly when you need it...and time really does matter to me. Again, that's just my situation, and not the OP's.
It sounds like the OP would like something a bit bigger, but not crazy big....hard to blame him on that.
