Prime shipping has been averaging 5 days since the COVID insanity.I always wondered how they delivered Amazon trucks. Think they got free next day shipping, on that?

Wow, that's terrible. Much better here. I see more and more items with available "early AM Tomorrow" delivery options, like order at 10pm and it's on your doorstep at 5am, but they often want $2.99 for that service. The free shipping items included with Prime are never more than 2 days here, and an increasing number of items (35%?) are now 1-day.Prime shipping has been averaging 5 days since the COVID insanity.
You must get Amazon deliveries, just USPS for us hillbillies. Amazon does drop it at the local post office in Cuba so it does avoid the 5-30 day delay in KC.Wow, that's terrible. Much better here. There are some third-party seller items marked "Free shipping to Prime members", with huge margins on their shipping time, like up to 10 days in some cases. But those are more the exception.
I wish! With Prime shipping we used to get orders in the advertised 2-3 days but now if we get it in a week and a half we consider it lucky.Prime shipping has been averaging 5 days since the COVID insanity.
Not my experience. Amazon has been improving and improving for me. Now getting a bunch of stuff next day, which was unheard of 5 years ago. I live about an hour outside a major metro area and never before were we close enough for that fast of delivery.Prime shipping has been averaging 5 days since the COVID insanity.
Are you ordering Prime-eligible items or sold/shipped from 3rd parties? What you describe is very rare in my experience. But I mostly choose things that are listed as 'Prime'.One reason we get Amazon deliveries (which used to be quick) in a week or so these days is that the 2-day shipping applies only to the actual shipping.
When it takes Amazon several days to get around to shipping an order, well, it's still 2-day shipping, but takes over a week to receive.
That's my experience at home where the Amazon trucks are dispatched out of a warehouse near Sacramento airport. Lots of stuff arrives next day. Things that must have been stored elsewhere in the Amazon system, generally 1-2 days additional.Wow, that's terrible. Much better here. There have been a few mentions on this forum of shuttering the USPS, but this is really where they have made themselves indispensable. Not specifically Amazon deliveries, but in being the "last mile" delivery service for so many areas that those operating for-profit just can't touch.Ranch, same experience as Eagle1. Amazon delivers everything to the local post office for USPS delivery next day.

Okay... but I din't mean you, specifically.I see FedEx, UPS and USPS almost daily
I'm pretty sure they deliver to any street address just as well as USPS. They don't do PO boxes (I could be wrong) . Heck UPS was delivering when USPS and FEDEX said the roads were bad.Okay... but I din't mean you, specifically.![]()
Around here they hire many "casual" drivers that will deliver a few packages on a desired area. My wifes grandson is driving for Amazon, their truck and he gets routed to the same basic area most days. From what he says the casuals get the longer routes with few packages. The Amazon "causal drivers" are the managers fixing the problem cause due to the main driver not doing his/her job! Had this happened many times.
Ordered something on 12/18 for which the latest delivery is "estimated" to be tomorrow 1/21. Then again every week I get an email pushing it out another week. There are some third-party seller items marked "Free shipping to Prime members", with huge margins on their shipping time, like up to 10 days in some cases. We have two Amazon fulfilment centers as well as an Amazon large freight depot in the Little Rock area.Wow, that's terrible. Much better here.
