Yesterday I was 350 miles into a 450 mile trip when somebody pulled out in front of me, causing me to brake briefly while he got up to speed. There were cars lined up as far as the eye could see in both directions so his other choice was to wait however long it took for the road to clear. I tend to leave a wide gap in that type of traffic anyways in case somebody needs to get out...Yet I've ridden with people who would be blowing the horn, flashing their lights, riding the guy's bumper and giving one finger waves.

Maybe something's wrong with me but I would not want to be involved in a fatal accident whether it's my fault or not. People make mistakes, I strive to allow for that. Not everybody is the same. I know a former truck driver who was just pulling off the shoulder into the southbound lane when a northbound drunk crossed the center line and half of his lane, killing herself against his bumper. There was nothing he could do but watch... that was the last time that he ever drove a truck.
Another trucker was overloaded when a log on his trailer hit a bridge abutment and came off, killing a woman in the car behind him. He still drives, and still hauls loads which are way over the limit. It takes all kinds...

^^^ that last driver should have his license revoked.

Someone crossing the centerline is my biggest fear when driving.

Church, restaurant, bar, and salon owners have the freedom to split lanes if they have a motorcycle.

You brought up freedom, ask them about their freedom!

Two days ago these comments were directed at me. Now I'm asking for the same consideration...:ziplip:

On the road, hay and log trucks are something to stay well away from.

This one sent logs across a freeway barrier.

Pretty good chance that the driver of that car in the picture has been guilty of inattentive driving more than once. Eating and drinking while driving is not a smart thing to be doing. Probably had nothing to do with the current accident, but who knows. Pictures like that provides a good lawyer a lot to work with. Something to keep in mind.

Because he's ranting? I would too if I were doing 70 and suddenly had logs coming at me also at 70mph like a wrong-way driver had appeared in an instant.

I think the entire issue should be the logging truck driver.

A year ago I nearly got taken out by a semi that jumped from the slow to the fast lane in an instant like that guy, while I was nearly ahead of him. I swerved to the center divider and hugged it braking hard, no damage. Same spot that had seen two semi jacknife incidents in a month, and this guy had local logos so he must have been aware that wasn't a good place to do something stupid like this logger did.

Have seen 3 bad accidents involving trucks in the last 3 days. 2 were single vehicle accidents. One involved two vehicles. I’m pretty sure at least two people were killed, maybe more. These 3 wrecks happened in 3 different counties and regions of the state. I am very glad to be back home and not on the highways.
