Any work done on the backhoe?

I need to start a project soon to connect some custom-made backhoe (excavator?) onto my tx1500. Yours also looks like non-standard, so i am really curious how it is (supposed to be) connected...?

thx M.

Mine was manufactured by a company called Polymark, Beaver, There are long plate metal parts which fit along the full lenght of the tractor(removed at the moment) you can also see on the rear of the tractor there are some quite heavy duty brackets attached to the 2 mounting plates like you have just purchased, basically to fit the backhoe you would reverse the tractor onto it and it would pick up the 2 locating brackets with a couple of diagonal braces down and forward to infront of the rear wheels where it would puck up points to attach to, if you have a look through my thread you should be able to work out how it attached, as there is a few photos of the tractor coming off the backhoe and some of the backhoe getting stripped.

I am sure you can work out from here how it was attached,

Ok thanks, i will re-visit your photos again and try to puzzle it. I cannot start this project within the next few weeks, so i have time...

Does your backhoe use it's own hydraulic pump connected to PTO? Or the tractor's?

It has a oil tank, you can just make out the filter fitted (yellow in colour) to the tank, it is in the make up of the sheets metal frame work, it used a PTO hydraulic pump.

There are a few of the same type of set ups on this forum so you may see other pictures should you wish to find them also.

Its been a while since I have updated this thread but some work is still going on, tonight I gave the spool valves a clean up which were housed under the seat, thankfully there was still oil in the system so although externally they are in a poor state, internally they are pretty clean,

Here is my replacment back hoe set together to see whats needed, the jacks need to come off as they seem stuck, I have not managed to get much done recently due to other things taking over, but I will get back to it at some point.

It was missing 1 ram but thankfully 1 ram is usable from the original, some hoses need replaced and I need the PTO pump.

Where did you find it? This 'LELY' is a big Dutch company I happen to know.

You may be able to skip the PTO pump because it is an expensive (and hard to find) part of this operation. Just cut one of your hydraulic hoses on the tractor side, equip them with a bajonet connection, and do the same for the hydraulic part of the back-hoe. It's what i did, works like a charm, and saved a lot of money.

I found it in the UK, down in the south of England, that's interesting Lely is a dutch company, they must have has stuff imported to the UK in days gone past, maybe they still do?

So have you Tee'd into the flow and return pipes of your spool valves, probably with a power beyond line connected too, that is certainly something to consider if I cant find a pto pump.

This Lely company is really big, about 1500 people working there, at this moment on the high-tech side of agro (Oplossingen voor de veehouderij - Lely)

On the oil: I already had a flexible pipe installed from the oil-pump into the 3point. So i just cut it, and made a bajonet connection between cuts to re-connect it.

Now if i want to connect something external to the hydraulics, i just make sure to have the same bajonet connections onto it (male/female), and i can run it.

Going into a pro pump will throw you in the direction of:
- a lot of money
- a lot of weight (from what i read you need something like a 40 or 50 liter oil reservoir.

If you need photo's just ask, good luck on your new toy. I am playing with this custom-made backhoe for quite a few months now. You were right: it is a money pit. :)

Marcel, the oil reservoir is built into the frame work of the back hoe so thats covered, lots for me to think about going forward.
