Makes me glad they don't salt the roads here.

Seems like they put the cheapest piece of steel right where it carries the most load. :confused2: I could have painted it tho..

Heres a pic of my welding table I put together a few years ago I got a good deal on the 1/2 "steel plate from my local steel supplier. It's only 3 ft wide by 6 ft long I have a small garage but it's a big improvement over the portable strong built table (folded up just to the right in pic) I had been using.

Prefect table size. How high is it? I am getting ready to start the build of another new one for myself.

Gizmo2 its 32" inches high......I used 1/8 " square tubing for the legs and frame.I was a little concerned about the steel plate it was warped but luckily the heat from the welds drew it down and it sits fairly level now.I used my tractor with forks to set the steel plate on the tube frame. If I recall I think the hardest part was doing the welds on the under side of the table top.I probably should have set the steel plate on the floor and then welded it to the frame but I wasn't sure it I'd be able to flip the table back up right without damaging the concrete garage floor that suckers is heavy.:)

32", Looks to be higher than that. Seems low to me. My current table is 37" high but I'd rather have your table...

I had my eye on a 30x30" c.i. radiator today. Was thinking 'cutting table top'.. and 'free'.. :D Cast iron should be good for that, no?

Good idea. Lots of those lying around in New England. I've got one in my basement. Maybe fabricate a stand for a small radiator and you'd be all set at least for non critical cuts.
