Trust me, I'll be saving my pennies to buy this tractor. If I had that much money, I'd just keep buying them till I found the right one. Or I'd even hire someone else to do the work... I can just picture it, 7 scantilly clad maidens in white blouses and plaid skirts doing all the work on their hands and knees.... uh what was I saying again?

Do you mean, you see NO long term advantage? I was confused by your post, sorry just making sure I read it right.
But I do agree that maybe a smaller tractor would be adequate for my needs.
I would like to clear the .5 acre, and maybe till the ground for a garden, not all of it mind you. Afterwards I would use it for snow removal, mowing, and the odd job here and there. Who knows I may end up clearing more of the land, I do heat with wood afterall.

I just meant with 3.5 acres of wooded land, and .5 acres landscaped. and you wanting to clear some of the woods, aprox another .5 acres That will be done in no time at all even with a Kubota BX SCUT. What will you have to do long term if you get a bigger tractor and finish the job more quickly. Tractor work is fun in the amount you have to do I wouldn't be in a big sweat to get it done too quickly. If you get more pleasure out of a larger tractor though go for it.

Thanks guys for all the advice, I priced a new Kubota b 3200 which replaces the 7800, and has more power 32hp, and I can get it for 17500. bare. the loader would be 4000 more, these are retail prices, and can be bargained. I also priced a bunch more k's while I was there, if you're curious I'll post em.

Whatever you get you MUST get a loader. More than doubles your uses and resale value.

If you think that's all the machine you will need then I think the 4010 is slightly a better pick. Now I did'nt look at all the specs for comparison, just basing this upon a 25% PTO lift advantage over the JD 2305 & Bota BX 2660. That's a big difference in my books for a machine that is very similar in size & weight. I would think this would also transfer over to a lift advantage on the FEL as well. (Don't know what the 4010 FEL lift is)

Your getting two sets of rims & tires on that 4010. If you get the snowblower for an additional $2,000 & it is a front mount........GO FOR IT !!

Get some additional weight for the rear & you would be all set up for the winter.

The blower is rear mount. The problem is that they dont make the loader for it anymore, or the brackets anyway, and it doesnt have either. The dealer wanted to get some brackets made for it to mount a loader, cx200 I believe.
The 2305 is about 17,600 with 200cx loader, and sb11 blower. plus tax, which brings it to 19,900

Man, that's a drag about the 4010 FEL. What's even worse is that price for a small tractor. MY GOD.....I thought the prices had come down. They don't call them Dear for nothing. Well.....I gues you are getting a Blower with it as well.

You do realize you can get quite a bit more tractor if you looked at a Kioti for that same price. Not sure if you have a Dealer close to you.

I bought my deluxe 35 HP Class III NH Boomer for $23 K with FEL used & 79 Hours in 2004 when Canadians were getting slaughtered on the price tag.
I just can't see paying that for a small tractor.

Everyone always says a good dealer is critical, and I agree. But, I don't really believe the dealer needs to be that close. If it's a new tractor, and you are able and willing to do your own maintenance, then I don't see a compelling reason to HAVE to buy from a dealer close by. I've had my JD 425 for 15+ years. It's been to the dealer a grand total of one time. One should have a similar experience with any good quality machine as long as dealer preparation is also first-rate and the machine is well maintained.

And if you agree with this, then it might be worth driving a bit to look at other brands. Not that there is anything wrong with the tractors you are considering. But, you might find you can get more tractor for less money. I bought my Kioti from a dealer over 250 miles away even though there is one less than 40 miles away. Have no problem doing this either because the dealer I bought from is excellent and stands by their products no matter how far away I am. I also buy my maintenance parts from him and just have them shipped to me. Shipping cost vs. gas to the closer dealer is about a wash.

Of course there are many, for their own rightful reasons, who wouldn't agree with this approach and think the dealer MUST be close by.

I totally agree with Giityupman !!

When I was originally looking I was hoping to deal with a Case Dealer about 2 miles from me. W A Y too much money.

Ended up buying from a Dealer 30 miles away. Fortunately, in 4 years have not needed any repairs requiring Dealer.
