Can you back that statement up with some cold hard facts please?
I thought that was just common knowledge in the SCUT and CUT market anyway. Kubota has 50-60% of the market, Deere about 20%, New Holland about 10% and the rest fight over the remaining 10% or so.
To the original Poster. That initial price you were quoted is way high, probably $5000 to high, try a different dealer as you said you would. My friend got a B2920 with FEL, MMM and Landpride tiller for $17,200 last year. With the price increases since then, you should be looking at about the same price for the B2620. You also mention the speeds could be adjusted easily by pushing the pedal on the Deere you test drove. That is true, but what the extra range of the Kubota will give you is more power at a specific speed with the Medium range. If you have any substantial hills, you will be relegated to Low range with the Deere, and have a Low or Medium option with the Kubota.

Your not going to find it published or on any offical website, but Kubota will openly say that according to the AEM they have over a 50% market share under 100Hp. Considering that they are strongest under 50Hp, its safe to assume that the actual percentage of small compacts is higher still. That leaves the remaining part of the market to Deere which is almost certinaly #2, New Holland which would probably be #3... then the remainder split up amoung the other 5-6 companies. I'd concure with the other poster that Deere is probably around 20%, New Holland around 10%, and the remainder for the other brands. The 6-1 Kubota-New Holland ratio would agree with our sales.

Outselling doesnt mean anything in my book....Kia can say they sell 5x more cars the BMW & Mercedes combined in the USA, but that doesnt make a Kia better then a BMW or MB....
The price margin and quality between a Kia and BMW is quite different, not an apples/apples comparison. I hardly think Kia compares to Kubota. Kubota and Deere are both BMW's in my book, the Kubota BMW has a higher number than the Deere BMW in the case between the 2 tractors being compared, IMO.

I wasnt trying to call Kubota a "Kia" I was merely stating that numbers alone dont mean as much as some make em out to be...
Agreed, I'd say JD & Kubota are both "BMW's"....
Uack on the real topic...Ultimately buy whichever machine has a better dealer and takes care of you.

Here's my personal experience with the exact same situation as the OP.
I was **** bent on getting a Deere. I tested and tested the JD 2320. Did not like the location of the loader Joystick at all. My leg was always against it. I felt a little cramped on the tractor. The two speed tranny just sucked....period. I was still willing to pull the trigger on the Deere UNTIL I decided to drive the hour and a half east and just check out the Botas for the heck of it. Well did that throw my world in to a spin cycle. I tried out the Kubota B2320, B2620 and B7610. Decided to eliminate the B7610 immediately because it was being replaced by the B2x20 series. So it was down to the B2320 and B2620. Since there was only about a thousand dollars difference between the 23 HP and the 26 HP tractors I chose the B2620. The three speed tranny is HUGE! It is PERFECT. The cockpit is extremely spacious and well layed out. My leg never touches the loader joystick. My 60" MMM deck is also a drive-over deck like the Deere. The Kubota has a clutch on the left side that will immediately disengage the PTO if needed and I think that is a huge advantage in an emergency stop situation. The Bota was about $1500 cheaper overall so for me the price played almost no part in it. My Deere dealer (right here in town) never gave me a warm fuzzy whereas the Bota dealer (an hour and a half east) was and is awesome so far. The only advantage to the Deere is the fact that you can actually use the split brake pedals whereas the Kubota's can only be used if the cruise is engaged in my opinion and the positon control for the 3 pt hitch. I won't lie, I thought I had to have a Deere and would still like to have one someday IF i have enough land to need a much larger tractor. After my limited experiences to this point, I don't think anybody can beat the Kubota line of tractors in the sub 50 HP range. For me the above 50 HP lines become a little more blurred. I have absolutely NO regrets or second thoughts about my decision. My tractor is orange and my bedroom is still and will remain green and yellow.

Just to be clear, I have no argument one way or the other on the original poster's question, I bought a JD 2520. I was willing to give bota a try but my local dealer did not have a 2630 or 3030 on the lot, and since I already liked the Deere, that made up my mind (although I'm still very curious about the 3030). Anyway, just wanted to address the above comment.....my joystick was always hitting my leg too, so I took a look at the linkage, and it could be adjusted to move the joystick more outboard. Just wanted to point that out for anyone who may be concerned with that issue.
