Kubota FEL - B series vs BX series

/ Kubota FEL - B series vs BX series #11
The BX is more nimble will fit in places a B can't .

There are few place that I cannot get the B into. It is about 3" wider or 48" wide and only slightly longer than the BX.

The 3 point is better on the B, the B is more comfortable, the B has better ground clearance, The B will lift more with the loader,

but I think the BX is a much better mowing machine due to the low center of gravity, mounted mower, wide tires, etc.

Well, I'll be using it for bush-hogging, possible mowing with a MMM later on if I decide to get one, tiller later on and post hole digging... so I'll be using it for more than just FEL work, but was wanting opinions on how the FEL works comparitively. The other stuff can be used by both....

Yes the other stuff can be used by both but the B will have a little more capability and fewer limitations. For FEL work the BX can get into tighter spots and the B can do a bit more work (lift and weight) if you have room to manoeuver. I had a BX for 4 years and loved it. Now have B.

Yes but you are using the BX1860 as a comparison to the B series. The 2360 and 2660 have bigger tires, more hp, and more ground clearance than the 1860. The difference between those two and the smaller B series tractors is much less significant, though there are still differences for sure

Loader reach and lift height is more on the B's. (Thats something you dont think about much til you need it). And you should think carefully about the cost and availability of attachments for the tractors you are considering. You'll need much more than just a bucket.

One reason I like the B is actually because it's wider and would probably be more stable on the hills, large rocks, etc...

I really would like the B2920, not much bigger then the B2320 or the B2620, but able to do a lot more work (based on the gpm and loader capabilities), but (per kubota's website) a B2920 with FEL and R4 tires is going to be around $18,500 when I can get the B2320 for about $3,000 less....

For those with a B - can you do any hay bailing or any other of that work? Not that I need it or would use it now, but in the future - who knows?? and I'm trying to buy the bigger B to last me for a very long time instead of having to upgrade either from a BX or lower hp B later on

Most of this depends on which B you're comparing to a BX. The Kubota website offers all the specs and makes a comparison easy. The B2320 has very similar specs to the BX2360. Same hp, essentially same FEL capacities. The lift height, weight capacity and reach are all really close. The BX has a tiny edge in a couple of places, the B2320 in a couple of others. The B2320 costs a bit more. The extra bucks get you more ground clearance, a 3 speed, more 3pt hitch lift capacity and bigger wheels.
If the BX comparison is made with a B3200, things change drastically.

Seems the tractor companies have caught on to the the computer makers' marketing strategy. A few bucks more gets a few more capabilities. The computers price increases in $40 or $50 increments and each step gets you a little more. Not a lot more, but enough to keep you ratcheting up! Seems the trick is to figure out where you need to stop the escalation.

I had the BX24 and switched to a B2320 DTN.

Without the backhoe the B2320 will be narrower.

It's only a touch longer. Looking at them side by side.
With dual brakes it might turn in some situations better where that's ok.

I have not tried the BX25. But the HST in the B2320 was much better than BX24 HST.

The FEL works fast at even idle. Always had to rev up the BX24 to do anything.

Someone mentioned B being wider than BX and therefore more stable but with the higher clearance that may not be true.

I got the turf tires and that makes it a few inches wider than R4's.
With R4's on B2320 I think it would by slightly more tippy than BX24 with turfs.

I hope it feels as stable as BX24 did. B2320 is higher and wider so I expect it to be about the same stability wise.

So it sounds like in relation to the FEL, the higher end BX works almost just the same as the B, but with the B you get ground clearance and a few other features....

I just can't believe they would limit the FEL that much on the lower end B's.

Has anyone tried the B's are there any "noticeable" differences in them when it comes to the FEL on the following models B2320, 2620, 2920?? I'm not considering a B3200 - it's quite a bit larger....

I haven't owned a BX model but I have owned a B7510 and currently a B3200..... if your going to be bushogging or working in the woods where ground clearance is an issue I would lean towards the B models... I also have read issues with some BX owners and a fan mounted under the tractor which might cause you some clerance issues.

Good point about working in the woods... I have some property that have big rocks and need to take that into consideration.

Others have mentioned the ground clearance issue, but never really thought about it until you mentioned if I was going to work in the woods...
