What would you do to prepare to horde & store a few years worth of diesel?

Eagle Scout here as well, and I went "FP" many years ago. .....

144 rolls to the box (5/8" plywood, lined inside with plastic, and wrapped outside with plastic). Got 10 boxes stuck away.

Good god, man! You have 1,440 rolls of toilet paper on hand? Without getting off-topic and not questioning your logic at all, but you are expecting all of society to break down to total chaos in very short order? As in, Russia nukes us, or what?

1. My guess is at some point, the Federal Reserve Note will go the way of the Russian Ruble (1990's), the Argentinian Peso, and every other fiat paper that has ever been tried......and most likely chaos will result. Will that happen in short order ? Probably not, (although the stock market certainly is up in rare air levels) but I'd be surprised if we make it another decade or so without some serious financial problems.


2. With inflation, it gets more valuable all the time. That pic is about 10 years old now, and the price is up in the neighborhood of 25%, not counting the fact they also made the rolls smaller.

3. Given this glimpse into my storage habits, just imagine how interesting the estate sale will be if I up and die.

Me, I'm a set-of-the-pants guy who will take his chances. I try to keep my gas tank full in my truck though, just in case.

Whoever local wholesale / bulk dealers in your area are. These are the same places that sell to gas stations, you buy direct. They deliver bulk fuel to farms, mines, timber cutting operations, construction sites, all kind of folks buy it in bulk and have delivered. Mostly business to business but if you have a tank and pay your bills they are happy to sell you too.

I've found it's also one of the very few places you can order 100% gas. No ethanol

Yeah, our farm Co-op gasoline is ethanol free....kinda funny....they sell corn and fertilizer to grow corn, but won't put a corn product in the gas, thus supporting farmers. (yes, I know ALL the reasons why ethanol shouldn't be in gasoline)
