We have been completely debt free since 2014. That has opened a lot of options for us... A lot. I'd take those options, over a loan on a luxury item, any day.
So what. Folks don't want to see the riff raff making a nuisance of themselves, yet following through finding ways to knocking themselves out is a bad thing? I love ripping up a hill and doing backflips with my UTV. Oops, bonk. Last words "I'm not the hero everyone thinks I am", Eulogy, "he was doing what he loved" - congregation "astalavista, dumb azz".The problem is there are also a fair amount of accidents, almost always related to speed, drinking, or both. They do not realize if you hit a turn too hot in the mountains it can be a LONG LONG way to the bottom...
I live near the bottom of a forest service road that is popular with the recreational sxs crew, Im constantly blown away by the quantity of these rigs and all the accessories they strap onto them. But like you said zero to little down, a semi-ok job, and willingly taking a 7~10 year loan. Then they all think they are a rally driver on day one.
We have also, we buy all our meat and supplies for our food truck on our credit card for the cash back and the as soon as it is on the credit card I pay it off with the business account.Well, you are not as smart as you think you are when it comes to CC balances. I do, and have paid off mt CC balances every month for at least 18 or so years. Even when we buy something high priced, $5K OR MORE...
Sad part of it is in most cases the base models are already wired and have the electronics for all those options.I agree, the gadgets really drive up the price. Same way with new trucks, a top of the line truck can almost double the price over the base model, same exact body and engine but all the gadgets double it's price. And people pay that which blows my mind!
I owned a trucking company, so I'm just broke, LOLI never considered myself as smart but I am financially frugal. Had 73 years to perfect my regimen.
Speaking of the rally driver thing......there's another reason I hate all these new 200 h.p. atv's. Our trails used to be beautiful around here. Nobody ever used to have anything bigger than a 500.I live near the bottom of a forest service road that is popular with the recreational sxs crew, Im constantly blown away by the quantity of these rigs and all the accessories they strap onto them. Same up here in the winter. Weekend Warriors come up with their snowmobiles, High powered sleds, beat the hell out of the trails, then go home. I used to only ride during the week, after the groomers came through. P.S. I used to come up here to ride before I moved permanently, but we were NOT the WW type...Speaking of the rally driver thing......there's another reason I hate all these new 200 h.p. atv's. Now the trails are all deep ruts and bowling ball size rock because they have to constantly spin their tires and roost away all the fine gravel and sand.
And no real reason to. Why would I put that cash into paying off the mortgage early when I can earn a whole lot more than 2.75% investing it?It's hard for me to give up my 2.75 fixed mortgage but otherwise on the same page.
Same here, so everything is paid off and has been for quite a while.I just don't like owing anyone a debt... I hate making payments with a passion.

But yesterday I was rudely reminded of that I owe some $270,000. Not that I expect to be billed for it in normal fashion - it's just my portion of the national debt - but it bugs me.
But now he gets to write it off! Financial genius! (not!!)Believe it or not, I know someone who rolled a 0% loan into his new mortgage.
what is a JL?I have bought 3 new atvs, a 2012 Sportsman 400HO, sold it and bought a 2021 Rancher footshift, sold that and bought a 23 Sportsman 570 EPS.
The 400HO was 5,699 plus taxes and such, the Rancher cost 1/3 more than the 400HO, and the 570 was twice the 400HO.
Each machine cost more, but was better refined than the previous model that it replaced.
I guess it depends on ones needs, I am happy with my purchases.
The new SxS are real sweet too, but for me, I would buy a 2 door JL first.
